I have toured churches all over the world. While Saint Peter's is nice, it doesn't really move the needle when looked at next to other European churches. It comes off as a little on the average side. It's nice... just not that nice with the tough competition. Munich as a whole does not really have any stand out churches.

Beautiful interior and important landmark (oldest church in the city). We wanted to climb the tower, however you had to have a current negative COVID test to enter.
Pictures inside showing the damage done by WWII bombing.

Beautiful church inside and just a wonderful view at the top of the climb. You get a wonderful view of the city though if you are afraid of heights probably not the best place to climb. The rails are not that high which is great to prevent an obscured view and interfering with amazing pictures. We climbed at the end off November and the climb was not bad. The Florence Cathedral and St Peter’s in London were much tougher to climb. It was snowing that day so just be prepared for the weather up top if it is windy. The price to climb was reasonable.
COVID definitely has played a role. You do have to show your Green Pass which as I have said with many of my reviews made travel so much easier than showing your US immunization pass. We were surprised how many places in Europe would not accept that as proof under the 3G or 2G rules. We gave up an just showed our Green Pass the whole trip without a single issue. Everywhere just scanned the QR code and we were done after showing ID. Enjoy.

A bit too over elaborate for me (Protestant background you see). But this was a fascinating church and really enjoyable visit. There was a guy taking pics of various bone fragments in cabinets. And just a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Would recommend it.

The church in itself is also worth a visit, as it is the oldest parish church in Munich. The almost 300-year-old Baroque high altar with a golden figure of St. Peter is one of Munich’s best-known ecclesiastical art treasures, and apart from that there’s a lot more to see and wonder at in this church.

I, however, mainly went there to climb the tower right next to it! Currently, the Tower is open from noon to 4:30pm. Tickets cost 5€ for adults. Right now (with Corona restrictions) you log into an app, and then you’re allowed stay in the tower for about 20 minutes. When this time is over, they’ll announce it inside the tower that you should begin your descent now.

After climbing 14 floors, you reach the viewing platform 56 metres up. The view from here is just fantastic!

The descent is, of course, way easier than the way up! I do have to say, though, that this tower is nothing for people who struggle with narrow places. There’s no lift which means that you do have to walk every single step. And yes, there are a lot of steps!

This ascent is really tough for people who aren’t good on their feet or aren’t that fit right now.

Is this view worth the ascent? The view is great, and I’d say that it is worth it. Especially due to the Corona restrictions due to which only 25 people may head up every 35 minutes. That way it’s not that crowded and you have the chance to really enjoy this view.

I'm not religious, but I thought this church was beautiful inside! It had a nice vibe too! Just off the Marienplatz too.

There are many churches in the centre of Munich and this is one of the most beautiful from its double clock tower to the wonderful double altars and naves. Well worth a visit.

Internally it is very well preserved and undoubtedly a nice place to visit and pray ! It is a pity that the tower is closed given the corona situation

Beautiful church right next to Marienplatz. Ceiling has lots of details. Couldn't go up the tower this time. Bought two postcards as souvenirs
