This is worth the few extra steps up from the Marienplatz to see. A very beautiful church where underneath are the burial sites of King Ludwig, and his brother and his mother. Seeing this part is a nominal fee, but worth it.

and art work. To think of when St. Michael's was built, way before "modern" technology. The skill and craftsmanship displayed. Definitely worth the visit and it is free.

Lovely calm and cool (as in temperature ) 10 minutes to sit down and reflect. There was an organ recital/rehearsal in progress when we visited and it was lovely to just sit and reflect.

Beautiful large cathedral right in the midst of historical Munich. I particularly was intrigued by the sculpture outside which depicts St. Michael slaying the demon of Protestantism. The Jesuits came up from France in order to stave off this religious movement. The interior is breathtaking as well.

Beautiful baroque church few steps from Marienplatz,
The church was built in 1597 at the behest of Albert V , Duke of Bavaria
The facade is impressive ant contains standing statues of Duke Whilhelm and earlier rulers of the Bavarian Wittelsbach,
Internal with one nave full of decorations, statues , paintings and frescoes.

Is located in the main street between Karlsplatz and Marienplatz.
Quite enormous and impressive you can't miss it, and one of the largest Renaissance churches in the North Europe.
Unfortunately the time of my visit i couldn't get access to the crypt sector that includes Ludwig II crypt.

Be sure to visit while the 12:30 15 minute organ recital is happening. Baroque of course but the white interior makes it almost heavenly.

Very large internal space, and though not immediately not the most interesting of the city's churches you mustn't miss the church crypt. It's in the crypt that you'll find the casket of Ludwig II the famous Swan King.

We arrived on a Sunday, church service was in session, and it was such a beautiful, stately experience.

Hi ReRe1957, the info is on the top right hand corner of their website (sorry tripadvisor doesn't allow me to post the link) but you might want to use google translate to find out the mass times.
