The great thing about this place is that there are three ski areas although sadly there is no link between the Zugspitzer and the other areas. The queues were a bit bad at the weekend. Our 3 year old had lessons and they were amazing. She was able to ski down a small slope after one lesson! Skiing is always... More

Everything about Garmisch is really great, I liked it so much that I mooved here on a few occassions. Firstly you need to get something very clear, Bayern (Bavaria) is not Germany... These people have a sense of humour and know how to party, they are well aducacted and respectable people with a real sense of pride in doing things... More

We visited the place in one Sunday in January. There were a lot of people on slopes with really poor skiing skills. Felt even dangerous to ski in normal speed. Many transition slopes where you actually need to work hard to get forward... and then you discover they lead you nowhere. Mixed quality of lifts. Some are really old and... More

A really good time skiing. Rather a traditional resort, and as such it seems to have fewer snowboarders than most places nowadays, but if you're here for siding down snow, then this is perfect. Snow quality is good, with artificially made snow lower down to keep the pistes open, and good grooming overnight. There are not so many blue runs,... More

Whilst the G-P ski area's not huge, it has some excellent runs and, when we were there at least, some of the best snow conditions. The views are stunning, and almost all runs are tree-lined, with some nice alpine restaurants dotted around the area. One word of warning though - it's not ideal for snowboarders, as even some reds have... More

We went with very young children (1 and 4) and it was quite easy. Everything is really well organised. You can rent your gear and leave it at the rental place so you don't have to carry it back to the hotel. If you have small kids I'd recommend getting taxis to the slopes and not relying on the public... More

Our family had a wonderful time skiing and sledding. I will say that the German beginner runs and very different from the American beginner runs. I have been to different place in Colorado skiing and I still consider myself to be a beginner, so expectedly I chose the beginner runs. Wrong choice for me and my youngest son. There were... More

The mountain was not very crowded, but the skiers still managed to ski all over the place - cutting people off, etc. Our family enjoyed Ehrwald much better, even though it was more crowded.

The Zugspitze glacier offers great snow throughout the season but Garmisch Classic can suffer from low snow fall. The lifts struggle with the volume creating long queues and there are still t-bars and buttons in places. Good range of intermediate ski runs, but snow was not so good in December with over half the runs in Garmisch closed. There are... More
