Traveled up the Alpspitz in the cable car and watched the trees get smaller and smaller. Walked up on the X and peered down below. Was exhilarating and frightening. Signed the guestbook and got beers and pommes up top.

This is a wonderful place to visit Summer or Winter. The view from the top is very very good. Can be cold at the top.

We visited midday on Monday, March 28th. This being part of our day trip to Garmisch, from Munich. Our group of 5 took advantage of the Bayern ticket for the round trip to Garmisch from Munich. The Bayern ticket was a great deal. Once we arrived to the Garmisch Bahnhof we took the tunnel under the tracks to the local... More

Well maintained trails and lots of options for hiking at any level of fitness. The Alps are always amazing, but spring was especially nice.

Very easy to reach from Munich. Takes a while but low cost, easy, comfortable with good views. We got a bit confused and took the vehicular railway from near G.P. Station which was fun but schedule isn't great - we should have got the bus. The signposting and information at the station isn't that great. Really good experience, unusual and... More

I have tried climbing the Alpspitz but on the occasions I did it I got stuck behind large parties who clipped on and of the first ladder one rung at a time. I agree with safety but 20 climbers taking 15 minutes each was a big delay.Time is always a critical factor in the mountains and we had to turn... More

Take the train until Garmisch-Partenkirchen main station. Walk about 10 min until the city center and look for the Bus Kreuzeck/Alpspitzbahn. The last stop is the alpspitze. The ticket to go up is 25 EUR. Up there there´s a great restaurant with typical food and when the wheather is nice some guys playing Bayerische Musik. Be careful when you go... More
