Good Skiing
Mar 2020
I really like the skiing here. High enough for consistent good snow. Nearly as high as the Zugspitze but not as busy and often quieter than the rest of the Garmisch Classic area.

Breathtaking
Dec 2019
Only from up high can you appreciate the beauty of the Alps. There is no better place then on top of the Zugspitze. The view of the mountains and valleys become a God painted picture for your appreciation.

Its very attractive mountain. Its a special place, its Bavaria, its symbol of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Alpspitze.
Take the Alpspitze cable car from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, then enjoy the view. You have to do it. Really nice sightseeing. Perfect for walking and trekking.

Overrun with tourists
Oct 2019
We drove to Garmisch only to find that the final 4 miles to the parking lot where you get the gondola would take one hour and seventeen minutes to drive to due to the huge number of cars lined up to get in. Also, as someone coming from Colorado where (particularly in Telluride) the gondola rides are free, it was a shock to find that it was 40 Euro apiece for a round trip to the top and back. I'm sure it's stunning at the top but I'll never know because I had no desire to be up there with mobs of people.

great views and a great hike
Sep 2019
We chose this over the Zugspitze as we wanted to hike more and it was recommended. We took the short gondola up, hiked to the top and then took the gondola down. The hike was steep in places, but we did it without problems (w/ sticks) and the views were great. 2 miles and 1000 ft elevation. The restaurant at the top had excellent Apple Strudel.

Exhilarating experience on the Mountain.
Aug 2019
First of all we took the zugspitzbahn train and got off at Kreuizig (?) Then we took the cable car to the top of the mountain, which was really exciting - if you manage to stand in front, watch out for some surprises !! Arriving at the top was the maximum, as the scenery was fantastic, very sunny and the viewing is simply awesome. !

Breathtaking views, cable car ride up is stunning. Can easily do Alpspitz and and Zugspitze in one day, but take your time it’s worth it

Take a walk
Jul 2019 • Couples
Cable car up to viewing platforms and touristy area. 80 tourists every 10 minutes are despatched onto the mountain but get away from the top and suddenly the mountain is returned to quietness. You can take several tourist paths around the top of the mountain or you can start a proper walk down to the Kreuzeckbahn or over to the Hollental klamm or upwards to summit Alpspitz.

The viewing platforms are a novelty and the better views are actually away from them.

You can carry on walking downwards on a variety of paths.

The upwards cable car ticket includes both Alpspitz and Hochalmbahn cable cars

Amazing views with good food at the top and some nice walks
Jun 2019 • Family
We did a day hike and took the cable car to Alpsitz one way which was reasonably priced. My wife took the return trip which was about 29 Euro and much less than Zugspitz which was 58 Euro return, but much higher.
The restaurant at the top was surprisingly reasonably priced with some very large pasta meals at less than 10 Euro. The Views are amazing and the Alpspitz platform made you feel you had nothing below you as you walk out to the end of the walkway with a view straight down.
From there our family hiked a short distance up and then took the steep but exhilarating zig zag track down to Hollentalanger hutte which had a lovely deck for lunch. From there we hiked the amazing narrow track through Hell Gorge to Hammersbach.

Spectacular views!
Jun 2019 • Family
We visited Alpspitze on our last day of a 2-week trip to Austria and Germany. What a wonderful way to end our vacation! We were a little short on time, so we opted for this mountain instead of Zugspitze, and we were not disappointed. It's not nearly as crowded and the price is also more reasonable.

There was still snow on the mountain, and the temperature was a lovely 55 degrees. We arrived just as the tram was going to head up. They were running every 15 minutes the day we went.

The views on the way up are just spectacular, and if you're brave, you can walk to the ends of the special viewing platforms. The very top of Zugspitze was obscured by clouds, but the view was stunning nevertheless.

We enjoyed a snack at the restaurant before heading back down. It was a memorable visit!
