The ride to the Konigstuhl using the funicular (Bergbahn) is an adventure in itself with a very steep final approach to the peak. The first funicular takes one to the Heidelberg Castle and the second funicular still runs in its historic cars to the peak. Engineered by the Swiss, it is a historic monument well worth the very leisurely ride.... More

If you are visiting Heidelberg, make sure you make the time for a trip on this funicular system. At €12 (£10; $13.50) for a return adult ticket - which includes both railways and entrance to the Castle - this is money well spent. The lower section of the track takes you to the castle, and you can get out to... More

I do not recommend using the Funicular unless you have small children or have trouble walking. It's overpriced and the car from the Molkenkur to the Konigstuhl is very, very slow. It's also extremely unorganized when it's crowded. Impossible to tell where the ticket lines and access lines are because it's just one giant glob of people. But with some... More

Felt like riding a magic kind of box, like Dr. Who's, this takes you to the place of such a great view. Old town Heidelberg is spread out on the one panorama view of naked eyes. Great!

The Bergbahn (mountain train) is a great experience (some 1..2 hour is sufficient without the walk), when you are either on time pressure to climb up or just want to avoid some physical exercise. It cost some 12euro for the 2way ride.In case you are doing the walking up, the stunning view is a great compensation for the efforts. This is... More

Great views, very fast and efficient. Ticket buying process is a little confusing; I recommend using the person behind the window to get the best price.

I took the funicular to the top of the mounting starting first with a cable car and stopping by the Schloss and then continue to the next level were i changed in to the funicular to the top of the mounting. It is an eye catching seeing the Funicular passing each other in the middle of the mounting. When on... More

Loved my little jaunt up and down. Found the mechanics of it all rather interesting. Absolutely fantastic views from the top.

Definitely not the experience i hoped for. At the top there is certainly nothing except the view. It is much nicer in the Altstadt.

We took this from bottom of the Heidelberg castle to reach the top. Avoid that because you don't see anything. Take it to other destinations but if you get off the castle you will see nothing but walls. It was a waste of them and it cost 6€ per person. Total waste.
