The Dicker Turm is part of the famous castle at Heidelberg and is definitely worth visiting. In the summer the Heidelberg Theater puts on a play (new every year)., usually only interesting for German speakers. But the tower itself also offers an amazing view. In clear weather one can see past Mannheim and all the way to the Pfalz.

I believe that this attraction should be called Castle Gardens as the Dicker Turm is just outside the gardens. The gardens were a little stark while I was there but the views were lovely over the foggy city. Really be sure you get over in the gardens and don't just go in the castle.

When coming with some friends from overseas, to visit Heidelberg is a must, and more over to visit the Castle and its towers. Last summer we were here and had the best view over old town of Heidelberg. It is nice to be there on sunny days...

We had a superb meal with wine appropriate to the food. The service was impeccable, just the right amount of time between courses. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Please note the unusual table ornaments - all made from cutlery.

The castle of Heidelberg is worth a visit. You will discover a part of the history of the Rhine valley and the historical links between France and Germany. The garden is very nice, so are the views. If you have time take the "bergbahn"

For some of the most stunning view's of the old town,River Neckar, tower's and the general layout of the town then bimble on up to this great attraction. The ruin's look impressive and are very popular as on our visit there were large crowd's milling around. We only went up for the view's and opted not to dwell to long in... More

The castle courtyard does have a ticket to enter but the adjoining garden is free to roam around. It has magnificent buildings around you with detailed facades and provide great view of the city. Courtyard also has a restaurant and serves wine. It houses a huge cask. One can walk on the huge barrel and read about its history.

The castle courtyard or garden offers an absolutely magnificent outer view of the heidelberg old town along with old bridge and the river and rather ruined view of the inside. The castle courtyard and the surrounding buildings look like a ruined self of their own grandeur couple of decades back. Nevertheless, a place worth visiting.

To avoid bumping up against TripAdvisor reviews of the actual "castle ruins" (of which much has been written on TripAdvisor), there doesn't seem to be a place dedicated to the absolutely fantastic and equally impressive (if not more so) buildings that are designated as "Castle Courtyard" attractions. This "Dicker Turm Schloss" attraction heading is as close as I could find... More
