Very nice Barock style

The Altstadt of Heidelberg is very nice, full of Barock style buildings and very tourist friendly. There are restaurants, cafes and cozy bars in nearly every fourth building

Just like the other quaint towns ad cities in Europe, the city of Heidelberg also has an Alstadt (Old Town) at its heart. Adorned with restaurants, shops, and a grand church at its center, tourists visiting this area of Heidelberg should make it a point to wear comfortable shoes for the walk around this area mat get very tiring. Its... More

This town gets a lot of "Oh so touristy" type of guff from travel writers, but I can say with full confidence that they are simply wrong. Old Town Heidelberg is a wonderful place to wander around and enjoy. The food is good, the drink is good, the shops are fun and the architecture is lovely.

I was in town on business and had a hotel located on the edge of the old city. I spent several evenings walking around the area to explore it. Since Wiesbaden was spared from Allied bombing during the war, the buildings have survived intact. The small streets are lined with shops and cafes. At one end, there are thermal spring... More

After visiting the castle we found ourself making our way through old town. We stopped in a quaint cobblestone square where a group of locals forming a circle played a folk tune each on his or her horn. The tune reverberated throughout the square as multiple tourists clamoured for their camera phones. We made our way through several narrow barque... More

I really liked Heidelberg, with all its cobblestone streets and quaint buildings. Plenty of bakeries and places to eat too. About a 25-30 minute walk from one end to the other. Also, the views of the castle at night from the downtown is amazing.

This was very romantic and authentic ten years ago. I was sad to see its been highly commercialized with even a subway sandwich shop and a Starbucks. Not as scenic and as historical as it once was...there is graffiti and boarded up buildings. What happened to this town? Sad.

Whatever you would like to visit in Heidelberg it all starts here. This is the point where the Sightseeing Bus take you to the main points and also the most historic place you will find . The famous University Library, Museums and all sorts of Restaurants. There is a church right in the middle of the Main square where you... More

This is the center for the Heidelberg Christmas Market. It runs for many blocks and offers many food choices. Since it is in the center of a town that has many college students and tourists, I would recommend going earlier in the day and taking your time exploring all that the area has to offer. Crowds of tourists and locals... More

Heidelberg in my opinion is one of the best cities in Germany. It has everything as shopping, eating, walking, nice views and a nice castle. It is a very clean city and would visit lots of times in the future. You wont understand unless you visit.
