We spent a morning at Kloster Hirsau, and it was very special. There weren't many tourists around, so we could walk around in peace and take it all in. These ruins are a complex of buildings and chapels, now overgrown and set in a lovely...More

Kloster Hirsau is just down the road from Calw (another must see) and didn't disappoint. Although in ruins, nearly all the building structures are intact and span a period of several hundred years. Entrance is free and you can wander and explore at your leisure....More

Just outside town in road towards Bad Willdbad. Most impressive is ruin on cloister. Abbey church evangelical so has few details from days as Cluniac church.

Well preserved ruined Cloister. Strongly recommend that the visitor read up on the history of Cluniac Reformation in Germany before wandering the grounds to get a better appreciation of the importance of this Hirsau Cloister. If not a history buff, then the quiet setting with...More

Calw is very small and you can walk from the station. Pretty little town in and of itself.
