YSL Exhibit at the Museum
Nov 2019
A delightful exhibit of Yves Saint Laurent and the beautiful fabrics he used to create his elegant dresses and gowns. I got to see the actual cost by meter of the fabrics. Lovely small museum in a lovely part of Lyon.

YSL exhibit in addition to the museum
Nov 2019 • Solo
Like others have mentioned, the museum itself is all in French and no other languages. However, the special exhibit with YSL does have both English and French. The English part explained in quite a bit of detail especially if you know what you are looking for/at. The museum itself was a quick browse through since I don't know French. I would recommend about 1-2 hours visit.

Interesting Collection, Descriptions all in French
Nov 2019
This museum has a collection of silks and other fabrics that are very stunning. They show off excellent workmanship.
However, all descriptions are in French, which makes the experience underwhelming, even if one can understand some of the basics. There is no English, nor any other EU language in the descriptions.

Excellent museum with beautifully ornate garments from royal life and high society of France. Visit when in Lyon.
Jul 2019 • Solo
After getting lost even with a map. I eventually found the museum which isn’t too far from place du Belvédère. In the collection are beautifully designed garments during the time of Marie Antoinette and earlier. There are also items from designers such as Christian Lacroix.

Makes you realize we take fabric for granted

Very interesting for French speaking(like I am). Needs audio handsets to make the experience more attractive for others. Kids would find it boring.

Musee des Tissus
Sep 2019
When we visited in mid Sept the Arts Decoratif side was closed for refurbishment. The open side was very nice. Lots of info on the art of silk making and the big local silk industry along with some amazing clothing, tapestries and more.

Fascinating
Sep 2019
This turned out to be one of the most beautiful museums we visited while in Lyon. Their collection, which is apparently the largest in the world, presents textiles and fabrics in a fascinating way, with an emphasis on the work done in France and Lyon.
The building alone is well worth visit. If you have any interest in fabric, textiles and patterns it's definitely worth a visit.

Excellent visit
Oct 2019
This museum is dedicated to fabric and tells the story of silk work which Lyon is / was famous for. Some lovely panels on display, but be warned that the labels are all in French and nothing else. Some of the explanations were not very useful and spoke more about the donors or supporters of the museum who had made the acquisition possible than the item itself. Labels could do with some updating.

Stunning exhibits, but left me with questions
Sep 2019
I loved learning the history of the silk making industry and the jacquard looms at the Musée des Tissus. BUT, I have studied French for years and was able to read the texts. If you can’t read French, you’re out of luck, which is a shame. I was even more interested in the 18th and 19th century clothing which is really my thing, and the text wasn’t very helpful at all (even in French) and didn’t really answer my questions - that is IF you could even find it. Cases of clothing were displayed in the middle of a room and there might or might not be a small sign on a wall somewhere with a brief description of it. I looked closely at some of the garments and saw machine stitching on 200-year-old garments and wanted an explanation - is this a reproduction or an extant garment I’m looking at? But visually it is nevertheless a delight, and the price is right at 7,50 euros. I found this museum purely by chance, I happened to walk by it and it caught my eye. It is worth looking for it if you’re in the neighborhood and have an interest in the silk industry. Just be prepared to translate the texts if you don’t read French!

If you Love Fabric You'll Love this Place
Aug 2019
There was much to see and appreciate here. Including all types pf fabric (especially Lyon Silk) and fashions as well as decorative arts. It was a little "sleepy" but nicely done, and great for the fabric buff.
