This has been brilliantly excavated and set up for access so visitors can see all the stages of the church from the earliest in the 5th century to the 18th century altar. Free entry and audio guide with just 8 locations but well chosen and giving relevant information. Very helpful desk staff. Good guide book in French only.

I definitely want to repeat me.... I'm in love with this site... probably because I deeply respect our past.... each time I go in that kind of places, I just feel... good and peaceful. You can talk or remain in silent... it's a very deep emotion anyway. I invite you to go there.... it's also a good way to enrich... More

A good look at history from below ground - it's free, so it's worth it! You can see the whole thing and read most of the historical plaques within an hour.

This small, conveniently located museum, a reasonable walk from the train station, is absolutely fascinating. It gives a fascinating history of an individual location via an individual audio tour (with various language choices, including English) and modern audio visual accents in the structure. Well presented. There are stairs and I don't think it's handicapped accessible.

Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in Grenoble. This is an incredible place - the history, the sheer spectacle of the place itself. Go there !

Our family was stuck in the rain on a trip to Grenoble, and found the Archaeological Museum on TripAdvisor. The building was exquisite, with wonderful views of the excavation strata, many relics, and very helpful guides. We took the audio tour, which was very informative for adults and for our 10 and 11 year old children. This is a terrific... More

This museum is not a big one, but quite interesting cause of the history related. Ok you need to understand or be kind of interested about christian history or human history. they made it quite intereractive (audio guide really well done) AND it's free of charge!!

The juxtaposition of contemporary site specific installations and architecture with the remainder of the archeological tombs was exotic and captivating. I suggest this experience. Not the best place for children though. It might be too much. This museum is Free and and next to the Grenoble museum. So, if you are visiting the Grenoble museum I suggest visiting there as... fantastic museum. I though it would be quickly done but not at all. I love the modern touch to put in value every bit of this place: screen you can touch to know detail of history or special lighting.
