Was told its a 1.5 hr walk but took us oldies a couple of hours. Uphill all the way fromTram lift, with a few difficult spots. The lake is beautiful. Do take lunch at the restaurant and the foods good. The views are amazing. We saw wild Ibex near the lake. Walk back to the Point index its less steep... More

Beautiful walk overlooking the Mont Blanc. Walk is a bit challenging but worth the effort (a quite long climb on the way to the lake). Need to find out the track is open as it is closed for most of the year due to the snow. We planned to take the 2 lifts and then walk for 1.5 hour there... More

This hike is quite popular while also being challenging. The footing can be tricky at times. The views along the hike are amazing and we ran across an Ibex on the trail. The lake at the top is absolutely beautiful and I'd recommend exploring further back on the lake where there are fewer people and it opens up and is... More

we walked up and back from Les Praz. it was a long day but the views were worth it. the lake itself was quite busy as many people had come most of the way up on the cable car, but there is plenty of space to spread out .

As you would expect outstanding views all the way. I was a bit misled by some reviews. I found the 'walk' challenging. Not difficult but a lot more climbing up rocks that i expected for much of the trek. Tip: make sure you give yourself time to get back to cable car or you face a long walk down to... More

Best views in Chamonix in the summer - get cablecar from la Flegere and then go one directional to either Argentiere or Col des Montets - both routes are spectacular

One of the more popular and easy-access hikes and it is beautiful here. But come early, not very nice when it gets more crowded later in a sunny day.

Accessible on foot either from the Flegere lift, or walking from any number of access points. It's a big, rocky walk, at altitude, but the scenery is quite incredible. Walking down is just as hard as walking up. Worth the effort.

It's always nice to arrive at Lac Blanc for a drink, a meal or a dip in the water on a hot day. The walk up from Col des Montets is a classic and from the other direction taking the cable car and then chairlift to l'Index and then walking to Lac Blanc takes in some great mountain scenery. We... A stiff hike, but well-worth the effort. The views from the balcony of the refuge are sensational, as is their gratin Savoyarde, the best in Chamonix. Coming up the back way via les lacs des Cheserys on the ladders is a hoot. Suggest doing it early in the morning to avoid huge crowds on a sunny day.
