Next best thing to Vallee Blanche. Aiguille du Midi was not open due to dangerous snow conditions. Le Grands Montets almost as high.Must have experienced guide and equipment to ski down the glacier. 2000 vertical metres descent.Great experience.

Chamonix valley and Grand Montets ski area was an amazing experience. The people were friendly and many spoke very good english which made it much easier for me. My hotel (Hotel de L'Arve) was exactly as expected (great rooms and location!) and the streets in...More

Mainly red and blue runs here, and even blues can be a little steep and icy. The black run overlooking the Argentiere Glacier is long and has wonderful views.

Good skiing for a semi-experienced skiier! Taking the bus to this destination was easy, though sometimes the bus would be quite full and you would have to wait for the next one.

Great location, finally there is online booking for the top lift. The lift system is woeful, but as long as you have a reservation for the Grands Montets top, you can at least get to the top once a day. Otherwise the lifts are old...More

I have a back problem which prevents me from walking up steep slopes or steps. Is it possible to get to the views off the lift without walking up any steep inclines?

You can go up to the Aiguille du Midi at 3800 m where there is a lift to the summit. However you will need to be standing up while taking the cable car. Otherwise you can take the Train to the Montenvers where you can admire... More
