This is an amazing train journey into the past. A superb day out but wrap up warm as it is cold up there.

Didn't get off to a great start, had to convince the lady in the ticket office that my disabled wife could manage to get on to the train and that her wheelchair would fold. The journey itself, is rather spectacular , as you wind. Slowly up the mountain, looking down on Chamonix. The views at the top are absolutely stunning... More

Drew a Blanc! We're not told that tram only went as far as Bellevue, two stations short of top station. Paid for tickets (not cheap) and set off. Tram ride itself was ok and scenery good, bit very little snow and misty. Might have been better if we could get to highest station and above the mist, but that was... More

The whole set up is bad. We were all crammed into a small departure lounge. No order at all as to who was getting on the train. It was like a stampede from that departure to the train.... really unpleasant especially with children aged 1-11. The staff should have formed a queue or something at least ! The train was... More

Our visit to Mar de Glace on 24 December 2016 was an exciting outing that filled us with both joy and sadness. Joyful it was to take the train from town on a steep journey that leaves beautiful imprints of the surroundings and clear view of the Chamonix valley. The sadness was when I gazed over what once used to... More

Train ride up offers great views. Then need to take a cable car then walk down over 400 steps to the ice cave. Unfortunately there is no glacier as such it's disappeared over the years... Renovation works going on at the moment (made clear when you buy ticket) with 2 awful toilets hopefully when it is done it will be... More

We didn't enjoy the ice cave as we felt it was too gimmicky, and given the decline in the glacier it was quite upsetting to see ongoing human interference.

Around £85 for a family of five. Best part is the train journey up the mountain. At the top you have a vast stepped decent to the 'ice cave'. I am saying that in the broadest of terms, it will take around 5 minutes to walk through the cave. Really disappointing! The steps down and back up to the train... More

I don't see the point of digging tunnels in the glacier whilst at the same time raising awareness on how much the glacier melted. No need, in my opinion.

The train journey is nice with lots of stunning views on your way to the glacier. We will always remember the train journey as my brother, married 2 days earlier in Chamonix, managed to lose his wedding ring so we all ended up searching the train. We never found the ring but we had a brilliant day
