The promise of walking on and inside a glacier was to good to pass up. We took our family of 6 on this visit to Mer De Glace. The train trip to the top was quite comfortable as there were plenty of spare seats. Make sure you check at the station that the glacier walk is open before you go.... More

A nice experience. First we took train and then got down many stears to get to the cave. Our kids were very happy to see ice sculpture. This attraction is included in chamonix pass.

After boarding into the train at the Montenvers train station in Chamonix Mt blanc. Then after a ride along the trees you stop at the Mer de Glace in the middle of the mountain. Once there you are in front of a fabulous scenery. It will be such a shame not to go there. A must see.

The train ride was lovely, such beautiful views. We even saw a wild deer grazing in the woods on the way up. The glacier is very low down and many steps to get there. Getting down isn't bad but I felt like I was going to pass out on the way back up. (I'm a fairly fit 28 year old).... More

This exceptional location is shrinking and going to vanish in the coming decades. Take the red train at Chamonix and after nearly 30 minutes rides you need to take godonla to get down. Then another 400 steps and you will enter in the ice grotte. Price is not cheap (30 euro +) but it's worth to visit.

We visited Montvers with four children, the youngest being 5 years old. The train ride is sweet and lovely. What really makes the trip is the visit to the ice cave. The only draw back are the 400+steps to go down and up again. If you don't visit the cave you are left with a panoramic coffee shop/restaurant and the... More

Views are fantastic and recommend a walk up le signal behind the centre. View stunning at the top can see right over into Switzerland and can even spot Emossons Dam!

This is an amazing train journey into the past. A superb day out but wrap up warm as it is cold up there.

Didn't get off to a great start, had to convince the lady in the ticket office that my disabled wife could manage to get on to the train and that her wheelchair would fold. The journey itself, is rather spectacular , as you wind. Slowly up the mountain, looking down on Chamonix. The views at the top are absolutely stunning... More
