The picture is pretty much it. Town is pleasant to stroll around and the palais is THE photo-point so expect reasonable numbers of tourists on the bridges around trying to replicate the above shot.

As others have mentioned, yes, there is scaffolding over most of the structure, but maintenance of such a historic structure must happen, so, some of us need to accept that and appreciate what we can see. Would have loved to have seen inside, maybe next time. It was still cool to see this sight while enjoying a lunch on the... More

It is a picturesque setting in the waterways however the building is surrounded by scaffolding and coverings and it spoils the whole setting. Can't really say a lot more, just looked at it and then explored other areas. Shame really.

Such a pretty view. A real must-see view. Thankfully the scaffolding doesn't take too much away from it and hope it's all fixed up soon.

The view of the Palais de l’Île from Pont Perrière in Annecy is one of the most photographed sights in France. This picturesque fortified house which is a former prison went through a series of restorations and is now accessible to the public and houses the Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre.

It has been a number of years since we visited Annecy (and for some reason I had not done a review??), but the recent e-mail from TripAdvisor brought up a reminder of an absolutely wonderful experience. This is one of the most beautiful, charming and friendly cities in France - not to mention wonderful food and wine while viewing lovely... More

Undoubtedly the most beautiful spot in Annecy. Situated in the old part of town this old monument sits like an island and is a stunning beauty. Crystal clear water flows all around making the whole spot look magical. We did not go inside.

Beautiful canal splitted by the yesteryear architecture, narrow roads, restaurants and clear blue sky makes it perfect for photography. Sin to miss this, if you are in Annecy.
