Last massif before the Mediterranean Sea, the Alpilles are lighted up with thousands of glints. On its northern side, between Saint- Rémy-de-Provence and Eygalières, nature has fortuitously drawn a triumphant "V". A geological breach that creates a dynamic and exceptional relief. Perhaps you might behold the gliders' serene ballet above the ruins of a 13th century castle. You have just arrived, indeed, at Château Romanin. In the middle of the mythical and historic Provence, discover a majestic and unique vineyard, cultivated according to the rhythm of nature and biodynamic methods. Embodied by an ancient castle and a modern cellar, Château Romanin is protected and magnified by a real underground cathedral carved out of rock. Delight yourself with a tour, a wine tasting in the cellar.

We usually make this stop number one after our arrival in St. Remy to purchase some much anticipated Rose. Look for the specially priced year old Rose which provides superb value. The staff is very hospitable in a very comfortable setting. A must for all visiting this area.

We arrived near closing and asked to see “the cave”. This winery is in a unique setting and the gravel roads that lead to the cave are scenic – including watching gliders circling the valley and landing on the grassy airstrip. As noted by others, this is actually the commercial side of the winery – no tours. You can view... More

Please note that you need reservation in advance to tour the cellar. With no reservation, you will only be able to have a tasting. We asked the hostess of our B&B to make a reservation. Unfortunately, we did not know the distinction of a cellar visit and tasting at the time. So we were told that reservation is not needed... More

I visited Romanin with a group of friends and being from Australia we had forgotten the French operating hours so we arrived 7 minutes before they stopped for the long lunch - so keep that in mind! Being one of the bigger operators the service wasn't warm and welcoming with the lady making it clear that there wasn't time for... More

Tasting room is tucked pretty far back into the estate but is very modern, cool, and big. Staff spoke English and were very helpful in discussing wine and offering free tasting. Dog friendly. Highly recommend.

There are several signs on the road leading to chateau Romanin. It's further than the signs tell you, and the road is not that clear. On the inside it's nice and cool, but there's not much to see. Once the person that did the tasting with us, understood that we were going to buy, he became much friendlier. Nice wine.

We called the tasting room late in the day and they encouraged us to come despite the fact they were closing in an hour. There is a tasting fee, which was waived with the purchase of a few bottles and we were able to sample a wide variety of their excellent wines. It was some of our favorite wine we... More

A lovely drive up past an airfield and then through the vines to a stunning location perched below the mountains. A superb cave with friendly staff-and it is undergoing renovation so will be even bigger and better. And the wine, especially the Rose and the Coeur is superb-the latter being quite long lasting. A great place to visit.

We decided to head to this place on a rainy day in October, and even in the drizzle it was a commanding location in the hills. We didn't have a tour booked, but there was no one else there so the friendly lady took us back for a look anyway. The wine was lovely and we bought a couple of... More
