I do not have an appreciation for sculpture, or suffering artists, so I was not able to fully appreciate the Musees. The location is unique - under the Citadel. Admission is free.

The Citadelle itself is well worth a visit built in the early 17 th century. Visit the museum of the 24 th Chasseurs Alpins. That regiment now disbanded used to be stationed in Villefranche

If you are staying in VilleFranche go to the tourist office and do the guided tour they offer on a Friday morning. It is 1.5 hours & costs 5 euros each. You get a guided tour of the area ,the Citadel which included the museum...More
