Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely museum. Small with an interesting back story and displaying great works by the likes of Matisse who spent time in St Tropez. We were especially lucky to be there at the time the temporary Alain Godon exhibition was on. Air conditioning was also a bonus in August!

Museum located in the land of bling bling! But what freshness for those who love neo-impressionism. Some works by Matisse, Duffy, Seurat… bronzes in a beautiful scenography. Very nice Cross exhibition. To do without hesitation.

Loved the museum. Is not so big, you can spend 1-2 hours to visit and see some paintings not very well known, even if the painters are. also a nice place to hide from the big heat outside at noon.

I found the collection of this lovely chapel turned into a museum, a bit disappointing, especially when compared with the quality of the Musee d Histoire Maritime up the hill.
Le Musee de L Annonciade is however pleasant, and works are well presented, even if only minor works .
I understand that this museum features works by artists who have lived in St. Tropez, but they are far from masterpieces. Pointillism is over represented with Signac. Amongst the best works, a Nude by Bonnard, a paysage by Vlaminck, and some sculptures by Maillol.

Paintings of St Tropez & surroundings by famous artists who lived & painted there. Wonderful to actually see the sites they painted right outside the door.

I am a museum/art lover and on my recent trip to the region I visited several museums and hands down - this one is the best one! Their collection was the most interesting and inspiring for me!
Plus, they have the best brochure of any museum anywhere I have visited! Big, colorful paitings with separate sheet with details! A mini monograph! Really, if I could, I would give rating 10 to this one.
Masterpieces include Matisse, Bonnard, Kees, Vuillard, Braque, Seurat and many more.
If you like impressionism/post impressionism/expressionism and all those movements around the end of 19th century and beginning of 20th - a place to go!
Plus, your ticket is valid whole day, so you can go there 2 times - with 2 openings.
Greetings from Serbia!

Inexpensive way to see some paintings and sculptures and take a break from the heat outside! Can't say I understood very much and I was disappointed to see a man in a wheelchair admitted but then unable to see First Floor exhibits.

We were not sure about this museum until we walked in. Some excellent paintings on show in a well laid our gallery some of which are on loan from Dunkerque. The stars of the show were the several paintings by Henri Matisse which justified the visit

I had quite high expectations of this place having seen a rave report on French TV. But I'm afraid I only found it mildly interesting and struggled to find more than a handful of paintings which I could get excited about. Of course it is a matter of taste and for those attracted to pointillism in particular there are plenty of those. I felt the gallery interior itself fell a bit short too especially when compared with the quality of the maritime museum up the hill.

We really enjoyed this lovely art museum in a beautiful old chapel. We came in the morning and then came back later in the afternoon for a second look on the same ticket. There was hardly anybody there in the morning but a few more were there in the afternoon. A good Othon Friesz exhibition was on downstairs and then upstairs a wonderful range of work from Seurat, Signac, Bonnard, Braque, Matisse, Maillol, Derain, Dufy and Delauney and others too. We had come to St Tropez especially for this museum and were not disappointed.
