It took Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, one of the most original women on the French Riviera, seven years to build one of the most beautiful sites on the Côte d’Azur. An enlightened art enthusiast who travelled back and forth across France and Europe, Béatrice de Rothschild built up an incomparable and eclectic collection of masterpieces: priceless Sèvres and Vincennes porcelain, works by Fragonard, paintings by the masters (Boucher, Carpaccio, Tiepolo, etc.), Louis XVI furniture, and so on.

Tender in early in the morning. Taxi to Villa cost 10 Euro's per couple. Built in the early 1900's an awesome insight into old world wealth. Views of the Med are well worth the trip to her villa and gardens!!!!!! This is a must see and do in Ville-France!

Very beautiful house and grounds. The fountains outside have dancing waters and play music – – a smaller version of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. Definitely a must see if you are in the area.

My husband and I spent about 75 minutes here, thoroughly exploring the stunning house and surrounding gardens. It's a must to listen to the audio tour stops that describe the interior furnishings and the fascinating life of a Rothschild heiress. Each room is named with clear signage. The decor is definitely feminine and full of lovely fabrics in pale colors.... More

We took a taxi from Nice to visit the gardens. They were magnificent. It was late in the season but men were out working in the gardens planting and tidying up. I took many pictures just to have something to look at when back at home and to show our friends. I initially was ready to pass up this visit... More

I'm not particularly into gardens even though I can appreciate them but I must admit that the gardens here really impressed me. They are segregated into various themes such as Japanese, Spanish, Florentine etc. There are nine in all I believe plus there are various fountains, statues and alcoves/seating areas where the views across both sides of the headland can... Beautiful villa and stunning, artful garden grounds with Mediterranean views - totally worth the trek - I could have stayed in the garden for hours listening to the classical music orchestral sounds in rhythm with the fountains. Unfortunately, we arrived late in the day and had to rush through the villa to be able to meander in the garden, so... More

Most definitely worth a visit if you are in Nice or surrounding area - very easy to reach using local buses. Truly superb gardens - lots of different zones. The musical fountains are magical. I was here in early September and even though it was a very warm day there were plenty of shaded areas to take a rest as... More

After having spent a lot of time in France, it takes a lot to get my full attention. This place got it! A truly magnificent villa and gardens lovingly restored to its glory days in the early 1900s, complete with furnishings of historic significance. And the location has views in spades. I would strongly recommend springing for the audio guide... More
