Excellent exhibition of Chagall's works in oil, on paper and in stained glass. Not large but a comprehensive collection, well displayed. The notes were in French but the very informative film is shown several times daily in English and we enjoyed the insights it provided....More

This museum shares more intimate perspectives of Chagall. His travels, his loss, the persecution of the times, a flight to safety, the finding of a new home but constant dreams of his old one. This museum is not a bludgeon, it give you some easy...More

The artists had an interesting mastery of colors. Dominated by his religion. Becomes less relevant with time. Expected the exhibit to have some impact - and none came. The Garderobe service does not make sense. You cannot leave your coat but you must leave your...More

Chagall was a skilled artist in paint and glass who late in his life dedicated this museum to several large paintings of Old Testament events- Adam and Eve, Jacobs ladder, Noah. Each had some interesting passages but for me, they were not his best works-...More

A very comprehensive display of the painter's works in a well lit and airy museum dedicated to his works only, mostly mystical as one would expect. Free ear-guides. A reasonably well furnished museum shop.

The Marc Chagall museum in Nice helped me understand that Chagall was intensely interested in religion, and his Christian faith informs virtually all of his paintings in this collection. Perhaps because I do not share Chagall's religious passions, I was very underwhelmed. Don't waste a...More

This was more rewarding than the Matisse as Chagall painted a series of big pictures and some stained glass and a mosaic especially for the gallery. We are biased - we love Chagall.

About 20 minutes to walk from central Nice but the final bit of the journey is tricky - the signs are confusing and you have to cross a big road through a tunnel. Done signs show two routes! It’s rather hilly on the approach we...More

Simply amazing. This museum is located on the top of a quite and green hill of Nice, a beautiful sea city on the Southern French coast. The interiors are just brightful and completely matching with the concept of the museum and the paintings of Chagall....More

No. The cafe at the Chagall museum is very pleasant. You can walk from one to the other but if you see my review of the Matisse museum you won't waste your time. Chagall is between 1 1/2 and 2 hours.
