Superb free attraction

Arrved early for museums and spent time in the building, fantastic frescos and lovely garden with views back to the sea. Museum basic but you can see how monks lived.

The gardens are lovely; and there are some vistas looking out over some parts of Nice. The buildings are also mildly interesting; but the main thing here is the cemetery containing the grave of Henri Matisse. This is within walking distance from the Henri Matisse Museum, but is a little hard to find. The cemetery is on the left (opposite... More

The Monastère of Cimiez war a great experience for me, as I - visiting the cemetary - not only had the chance to visit Henri Matisse's grave, but also coincidetially found the grave of Emile Conte Targhetta d'Audiffret, who I got the honour to meet in Venice many years ago and who became a friend...

You must visit the garden during springtime, it is absolutely gorgeous! this garden is one of my favourite spots in town, very peaceful, very well kept and look after, a perfect meditation spot or just a place to chill out

We were in need of a nice, serene place to visit away from the crowds and the heat and found exactly what we were looking for in this monastery. We are not Catholics but were impressed by the stories of the saints presented here. We were also impressed by a local woman explaining to us in French the history of... More

An absolutely beautiful setting with gardens that have not been altered since they were established in the 1500s. The views over Nice as just as spectacular. We didn't visit inside the Monastery but we understand there is a small museum there as well.

Viewed this monastery by walking via the nearby roman ruins and interesting olive grove gardens. A must see in Nice.

Take a bus from the town [ very easy and cheap and lots to see on the way]. The Church was quiet and tranquil and very beautiful. Lots of Fresco's and paintings...could have stayed for ever. There is a Cloister at the side and of course a small cemetery....but don't miss the gardens superb.
