This museum has a few Matisse pieces. However, this museum is probably more useful for learning about Matisse's life/biography rather than having examples of his artwork per se. A nice part of the experience were the Roman ruins around the museum. It is strongly recommended...More

A small museum in a lovely location. Some museums are so big that you can't focus anymore. Museo Matisse is a perfect size. With the same ticket you'll get an access to other museums as well.

Went up to Cimiez to see the archaeological site and found that this was right next door. You can get a combined ticket for all the municipal museums in Nice for €10 for 24 hours (better value at €20 for 7 days) so that is...More

I almost didn't go to this museum. I decided spur of the moment to do so and I'm glad I did. It's a smaller museum to be sure but after massive places like the Louvre and the Vatican, this was a relief. I had a...More

Though a small collection, this lovely museum is not just about the art displayed but the house itself and its surroundings. You don't need more than a morning or afternoon to come up to visit. The bue 15 and 17 come frequently from the centre...More

This was a spur of the moment choice and one well made. Take the number 15 bus from town (or a taxi) as the hill up is exhausting. Once there, enjoy much of his art and sculptures, some photos of him working and a chance...More

There are hard any original pieces to see. They have a lot of lithographs and limited edition pieces but one expects more of Matisse's original works. The cut outs are what there were a to of. and those were done in the period when Matisse's...More

We almost missed it because the museum was closed at the opening time. Employees are not helpful nor enthusiastic, a pity. But the sample is great. Next time want to visit the church Matisse painted near Nice.

It's quite a walk to get this museum and once there it wasn't worth it. Not a lot of his works on display although it is a good spot to see the Regina apartment building which is splendid - like a giant wedding cake!
