Nothing spécial but the war mémorial is on the wall and there are displays of art or community interests from time to time.

Well it might be confusing to anyone who is not French - all civic centres are called hotel D'Ville, so expect to find one in most major towns. They are not accommodation centres! But often house fantastic museums. Picturesquely set usuallywith a square surrounded by shops and cafes the french architecture is so wonderfully diverse to make every town a... More

The building has a beautiful facade. It's not open for visitation (it's the city hall), but it's located in a very nice square (Place de l'Horloge) that deserves a visit.

The Avignon Town Hall has an imposing exterior, as to many Mairies in France. Here they make an effort to have regular interesting exhibitions in the foyer - the Creche Provencale at Christmas, for example. Free.

This time we decided to ask the security to allow us entering the Hotel de Ville. The lady was very friendly and was trying her best to explain us some information about the building. The Hotel de Ville is located on a wonderful plaza, Place de L'Horloge. The facade is striking and elaborate. You can sit in several restaurants and admire the building and many others nearby. Terrific shopping nearby.

Asked a friendly local for directions to a restaurent and got to see the inside of the building on route - beautiful, very ornate, not sure if it is open to the general public unless you have a business reason to go there

Yet another beautiful building in a small town of beautiful buildings. We actually began wandering and went down some back streets, thus discovering even more interesting architecture.

Nice and impressive from outside, especially the tower above it. From inside... just a dull offices building, definitely not worth s visit!

We were curious after passing the Hotel de Ville several times of the interior of the place. Hence we passed the security at the entrance and had a walk-over of the place. Being a functional city hall, it was just another government building with offices and few empty halls for potential exhibition if any. We were able to explore the... More
