This place is out of time, all the city looks beautifully not real. the ticket for the palais + the pont (bridge) is 13,50 Euros and it definitely worth it.

This palace was unlike anything else we saw during our three week trip to France. The history is very unique and interesting. We did not have to wait in line to get in, and we visited early in the day (~11am). Our favorite part were...More

Loved the architecture etc and setting, we didn't massively enjoy the art exhibition at the moment. Beautiful building though!

The presence of the popes meant Avignon was once the centre of Western Christianity. There's so much to take in here, but the audioguide was very well done.

Had to walk past this from my car park to my hotel. Wow what a structure. The architecture in Avignon is just amazing.

Take plenty of time and have a guide to go through this historic property. Unfortunately, from my point of view, there are a great many distracting pieces of contemporary Art throughout the property, and they have nothing to do with the history or the architecture...More

Two adults and two teenage girls visited in august 2017. Very impressive architecture but very little inside. Could do so much more to bring the history to life. Too much pope stuff too. Yes I know it's important historically but the building was used for...More

An important experience with immense history. I suggest a visit to Carcassonne and the history of the Cathars followed by Avignon to see the Palais des Papes and there is an understanding of the intrigue and politics of the era.

We visited in the late afternoon after 5pm, which is clearly recommended. There were no queues at the time. The palace itself is impressive for the huge rooms. The downside is, that there are not much exhibits from the time of the popes. As such,...More

This was the most impressive light show I have ever seen. Ambitious in length and scope with excellent production values I felt it was well worth the modest €12 ticket price. As a couple in our 30s, we were worried when the queue consisted of...More

Easy. You would get near the Pont d Avignon and if you go to the bridge information shop you can buy a ticket to go on the bridge and straight into the Palais. Enjoy.
