Do not buy from the cork products stand
Sep 2019
Lovely market, definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately we had a bad experience at the cork products stand. We bought a cork hot pot stand, which we paid in Euros of course, but were giving change in a foreign currency worth pennies. Shame on them!

One of the largest outdoor street markets that we have seen. Just about anything that was easily portable was for sale.
Jun 2019
We were exceptionally lucky that during our time in Aix-en-Provence we were there on a Tuesday morning when these markets are held.

To give some idea of the size of these markets they started on both sides of via Victor Hugo down near the Fontaine de la Rotonde, went either side of the 400 metres plus length of the Cours Mirabeau, then branched up the Rue Tournefort just past the Fontaine du Roi Rene and into the Petite Rue Saint-Jean - still with stalls either side of the road - then eventually finished with a mass of stalls all over the Place de Verdun and the adjoining Place des Pecheurs.

Anything I could think of that was portable was for sale. Down in the Rue Victor Hugo it appeared to be largely books, records, CD's with some antiques. In the Cours Mirabeau the vast majority of stalls were selling mens, womens and children's clothes from trousers, dresses, shirts, underwear etc to shoes. There were also stalls selling souvenirs, table cloths, sheets, kitchen goods and hand tools plus a vast majority of other bric-a-brac. Once into the Place du Verdun and the Place des Precheurs it was largely locally grown and made foodstuffs. There was a vast array of quite magnificent looking fruit and vegetables, cheeses, sausages, honey, jams, chutneys, breads, pastries, meats, fish, spices plus loads more. There were even some stalls selling hot foods, one in particular, a huge paella, looked delicious.

I was totally blown away by how good the vegetables looked. The artichokes - even though I don't like them - were stunning and at one stall they were selling a staggering number of different varieties and colours of tomatoes which I could only dream of growing.

In these squares there were also a smattering of other stalls.

Don't miss this market if you are in Aix-en-Provence on a Tuesday.

Beautiful market

Beautiful market with many hand made products and souvenirs. Beautiful flowers too. Wish I could have taken some home for my mum on the plane back to scotland. Very busy though and watch out for pick pockets!

This market has a pretty atmosphere, but still basically the same

I spent several days in Aix and got to experience all of the markets there. I love a good market and I love to shop, so I was excited to experience as many as I could in southern France...Arles, Aix, L'Isle Sur la Sorgue, Apt, Menerbes. I kept reading that one was the best in France or another was the best for antiques. What I found was that they all sell the same things, table linens, cheese, sausages, vegetables, soap, olive oil, honey, baskets, clothing. The vendors travel to the different markets on different days, so we saw many of the same vendors at each of the markets. The only thing different is the setting of the market. So pick a market or two in a town you want to explore and enjoy them, but don't rush to see every single one.

A must on a Saturday morning.
Sep 2018 • Couples
It spreads over many streets with areas being specialised. Time is needed to explore. Some of the stalls had really high quality well designed clothes and goods. This is a must.

A Fun Walk and Shopping Through Aix's boulevards
Aug 2018 • Family
I think this market is open 3 times a week. it starts in the morning and by 13:30 you can't tell there was a market there. We walked with the kids along the diversity stands and we loved it. It includes textiles, crafts, and clothes. It also joins with a large farmer's market. If you are an open market fan, don't miss it!

A Fun Walk and Shopping Through a Great Outdoors Market!
May 2017 • Friends
We love outdoors markets and this one on a Saturday is quite large and interesting. It includes textiles, crafts, and clothes. It also joins with a large farmer's market. I was able to make a purchase of some fine blouses (10 euros each) and an embroidered apron (15 euros). If you are in Aix on a Saturday - do not miss it!
