About
It is here, on the Lauves’ hill amid his dearest familiar objects: the models of his ultimate still lifes, his furniture and work equipment that you will feel the most intensely the full presence of the painter. From 1902 to his death in 1906, Cezanne works daily in this bright studio, the birthplace of dozens of works now preserved in the great museums of the world, among them the last Bathers. The studio has a gift shop, regularly hosts temporary exhibitions and organizes cultural and gastronomic gatherings during the season. Coffee break and refreshments on site.

Get to know Cezanne in his very own authentic worshop as he left it in 1906
Oct 2019 • Family
You get to know Cezanne as if he was standing next to us showing us around his workshop, with all the still life models, the tools he used to paint the Montagne Sainte Victoire which will lead him to create the master pieces we are familiar with today. It is the second time I visit. I will go back again as soon as I am around Aix en Provence. A unique expérience.

A little disappointed
Sep 2019
We have seen the impressionist collection at the d'Orsay in Paris, but we have never visited the studio of one of these famous painters. A trip to Aix-en-Provence gave us the opportunity to visit the studio of Paul Cezanne. It was a long walk from the Cours Mirabeau to Cezanne's house, and, quite frankly, it was a little bit of a disappointment. We walked up stairs to reach his studio, but there was little narration, so we all just walked around the room and looked at the items left there by Cezanne. The studio was unique in one respect. Cezanne had a large, narrow, vertical door built it one wall for the import of very large canvases.

We are sorry that you were not moved by Paul Cézanne's studio. The studio is a unique place that was personally designed by the painter, and where he kept all his most treasured possessions. It may be a humble studio, but it was here that Cézanne painted pictures that are now exhibited in the world's greatest museums. The studio is more than a museum, but a site of remembrance and inspiration. Regards,

Expected more

You must be a very big admirer of Cezanne to be impressed by this experience. It is one room, with some of his artworks, as well as some personal items. It does provide a small glimpse into his world. However, it is important to understand that you’ll go into the room and will spend there ca 30 mins. With 15 other people. That’s it.

Dont book a guide!!
Dec 2019 • Couples
The house itself is worth visiting. The guide was unfocused, unclear and not able to keep the story. A painful experience!!!

This atelier is very authentic!
Nov 2019 • Friends
Cézanne never lived there, and he only used The atelier for 5 years. Even though, it feels like visiting him, when you get there. If you like his paintings, it is a good Way, to learn a little about his life.

Very Interesting Exhibit
Oct 2019
We rally enjoyed visiting Cezanne's Atelier. It is set up just as he left it and many of the artifacts that are in the Atelier were significant to his paintings. It was a remarkable experience to be in the same room where he painted many of his master works. It is a bit of a hike from the downtown area of Aix but we felt it was well worth the trek to get there. The only caution for those who wish to visit is that you must get advanced tickets. They are available at the Visitors Center in Aix but you cannot buy them at the Atelier.

Just fine.
Sep 2019
We had already seen many of Cezannes works at a previous gallery so were excited to learn more about him. The Atelier was just fine. One room, very little seating. Our guide for the 1 hour presentation did not speak very good English, so our presentation was lacking. It was raining when
we went so did not view the grounds.

Cezanne’s prayer is very tender and moving . . .
Oct 2019 • Couples
Went to the trouble of booking ahead. Having walked in the rain for fifteen minutes from the recommended car park, on arrival 4 minutes early, we were ordered to wait in the driving rain, then ignored as people who hadn’t booked were let through ahead of us. Then told brusquely we must rush through our visit to make way for the next group.
Not a great start.
In the event, we stood in a rapidly crowded room, saw a few sad and tired remnants of the artist’s tools, read through Cezanne’s tender and beautiful artist’s prayer. At that point We saw the light and edged our way out of the sad and stuffy one room exhibition.
Sorry to post this - but being fleeced so rudely is an unpleasant and unnecessary experience.

For Cezanniacs
Oct 2019 • Couples
If you’re a Cezanne fan then this will be an exciting experience. If you are lukewarm on him then it’s a lackluster studio. Like everything, it’s in the eye of the beholder. We were happy to do a pilgrimage to the studio.
