The Clock Tower
Nov 2019
This is definitely one of the places where you will want to stroll. It's at the center and at the waterfront, so you will be here. It's the big clock tower.

Majestic clock tower
Sep 2019
This is a grand structure that dominates a row of buildings on one side of the port. It is both an entrance arch and a clock tower and is entry point of one of the roads down from the town centre.

Very imposing
Nov 2019
Great in the day and commanding the skyline . My preference is at night when it is illuminated as as the twin towers of the harbour

Impressive

The port is obviously rich with history but even if history isn’t your thing, this port is simply beautiful and won’t leave you disappointed.

Beautiful
Sep 2018
This is probably the most beautiful and most popular part of town. Great atmosphere. Lots to see and do and a real lovely place to be - especially in the glorious sunshine.

A major site of La Rochelle.

One can only imagine the history that has happened since the horloge was built and the many ships that sailed since it was built.

Entrance to city Center from the port

Very interesting building, locals call it "big Ben" Exterior of building under repair when we were there. Regardless an interesting building historically.

Day or night!
Aug 2018 • Friends
This was the entrance from the harbour to the old town itself years ago . Well worth walking around the area and taking a few pictures of the arch and clock tower in the day or at night when it is lit up. If you look on the left building next to it you will see several small windows with ships in it!
Don't be put off by the beggars just carry on.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars and a nice view over the harbour.
Its a must do for any visitor.

Imposing entrance to historic city
Aug 2018 • Family
A gothic tower revamped in the 18th century with a large clock is the entrance to the old part of La Rochelle, with arcaded streets full of shops and markets. There is a good bakery just on the left as you enter, with good baguettes.
