Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although none of the exhibits are labeled in English the audio guide explains well the story of Jean de la FONTAINE.
The house which was where he was born is beautiful and has a small garden nicely maintained
None of his furniture or possessions have survived (I suppose because he died penniless) but there are many many different versions of his books and the artwork which illustrated the fables
Very reasonable to get in
In the winter at least maybe not in the summer it closes for lunch however with the exception of a few Bank Holidays it is open every day of the year

Nice visit but the fact that there were no earphones and that I had to keep my hand up to listen to the audio during the whole visit was very difficult for me.

Had heard of Jean De La Fontaine but had only read one of his poems.
Visiting this museum which was his home at one point was really great.
To see the painting that were done to 'tell' the story of some of his poems was great.
Also seeing his actual writings was a pleasure.
The thing that made this visit so good was our guide. Without him I don't think I would have learned even half of what I did.

a beautiful stately home.... but, this will remain closed until 2025 due to thorough restoration works. The moning is now hidden behind fences and cloths.
