Free parking at various spots, nice place to go for a walk or run or cycle. Wheelchair access all the way around, however there is a section where you have to use either the grass verge or the access road along the car park side, if one wants to do the complete circuit that is. We took a very leisurely... More

Lake Hakanoa Walkway circles around an old coal mine dump but you would not know it at all. It's reasonably flat and only about 35 minutes around. Plenty of trees, flowers, birdlife and more. Enjoy the Cathedral area - which is fast becoming a great wedding spot. I've been told that you can ever see golden Carp in the water.... More

I live right off the lake and use this walkway daily in the summer. Its about 3km around the lake and just perfect for an afternoon run. Trail is well maintained and popular without being crowded. Great for my son and his balance bike.

A nice, easy, flat walk suitable for this unfit middle-aged woman. For the geocachers of the world, check out the ones round the lake. Good parking, very peaceful, easy to find and on the edge of town so you don't have to drive far to get to it.

Nice walk at any time of the day. flat walk all the way around. They have a nice section where they have plant/trees from different parts of the world. Not a long walk, took about 35 minutes.

Lake Hakanoa Walkway is an interesting walk which highlights a lot of different gardens and interesting scenic views. The Huntly Half Marathon uses this walkway for several of its walks during March each year. This is a realatively hidden gem which a lot of people do not even know exists. It is well worth the short detour off the main... More

Lovely walk around the lake.. but swans and Canada geese have left a layer of guano all over the track. Most of it was dried up... but it is still unpleasant. However.. the lake is lovely. Schools of koi carp can be seen sunning in the lake ( though i wish they weren't. . They are a pest in NZ... More

Hubby and I are visiting Waikato walks we haven't done yet. This is a wee gem. An easy walk - well formed pathways so suitable for prams and bikes and would be a great activity to do with young children. We saw plenty of birds including Tuis, Canadian Geese, Shags, Swans and Ducks. The information says 40 minutes to walk... More

An easy walk with some nice views. It is about 3km around the lake and there are plenty of spots to stop and take it all in. The Green Cathedral is especially peaceful and cool on a hot summer day.
