Great history musuem
Sep 2019
This shows how people of past centuries lived in Honfleur. Very enlightening and worth the nominal fee. If you like history, or if the weather is bad its a good place to visit for an hour or so.

Fascinating museum of old time Normandy

WE were the only people in here, it was fascinating! But strictly no photos allowed so no sharing on social media, a missed free advertising opportunity! Brilliant things in there, but lots of steps. Not to be missed in my view.

WORTH A 30 MINUTE VISIT
Jul 2019 • Couples
Old fashioned buildings and contents, with an old fashioned feel and presentation look. Quite interesting, worth 30 minute visit, particularly if bought with a joint ticket for the maritime museum in the church next door.Less than £5 for an adult to visit both.

Immersion in history

If you are interested in experiencing historical spaces, this is an amazing museum set in an ancient building. It offers a strong sense of what daily life was like.

Didn’t actually go inside, but admired the location

The location, if I’m right,(difficult to tell from the little thumbnail pictures they put on here), is in the Road of the Little Butchers, or in other words where old Honfleurs’ shambles used to be and where one of the original medieval wooden butchers stalls has been preserved with a new roof and hopefully a large amount of woodworm killer judging from the state of the timber!

Museum

Not enough in it to really warrant a visit. The Satie one is much more fun on Rue Haute. We went on a rainy day.

These are really two different museums
Aug 2018 • Couples
The musees (of which there are two museums in this group) come under one heading. The 2 museums are:

(1) Musee de la Marine
(2) Musee d'Ethnographie

The title for this review (Musee du Vieux Honfleur) is really the ethnographic museum (number 2) above).

Short visit but very memorable
Sep 2018 • Couples
This is a small museum but rich in history. It makes you think very hard about the people who live in the town, how poor most people were and how challenging life must have been in previous centuries. Great collection of artifacts - the museum is in need of modernisation but it can only justify so if there are more visitors. It is a pity because it is a gem of a museum and well worth a visit.

Well Named!
Sep 2018 • Couples
This morning my wife and myself took part in a guided Walking Tour of Honfleur and noticed the Musee de Vieux Honfleur whilst going along Prison Street (part of the Museum Tour includes the old - albeit small - prison).

We returned this afternoon to not only visit this museum but also the nearby Marine one (see separate Review) - for which it is possible to purchase reduced tickets (ie the one for the two museums costing Euros 5.50 each).

It was a good visit with some very interesting artefacts on display in the perfect venue. All in all, 30 minutes of anyone’s time well spent!
