Whether you are of the Catholic faith or non believer, this basilica is well worth visiting. From a Catholic perspective there is the spiritual aspect to the visit, but even if you are of no faith, the basilica itself is a sight to behold. From...More

A fascinating place of remembrance of a dedicated soul. The architecture is in perfect symbiosis with the spiritual message of Therese and of the church.

We traveled here from Bayeux, stopping to see the home of St. Therese. The Basilica is one of our favorites we've visited. Almost entirely empty (mid-week visit), and the mosaics are striking. Fascinating to learn about St. Therese's life and her parents. An inspiring story.

When we first arrived in Lisieux we were pointed to the Cathedrale and were somewhat confused as it didn't look anything like the photos. What we actually saw, in the centre of town was the 12th Century cathedral, that is now relegated to being a...More

The neo byzantine architecture is the largest religions building of the 20th century. The structure is concrete but the visible exterieur is limestone and the interior covered in magnificent mosaics.

Travelling in December, is a real plus, Christmas decorations and markets everywhere and very few tourists, the locals were extremely helpful and friendly, the Cathedral is not only magnificent, huge but very restful and moving

Our pilgrimage group visited the basilica and was blessed to have mass in the crypt chapel. The basilica is so beautiful and we also visited the tomb of the recently canonized Saints Louis and Zellie Martin.

The basilica is just a most colourful and amazing piece of mosaic art. Don't miss a visit to the crypt, just beautiful. A wonderful modern example of church architecture. Be there on the hour the chiming of the bells is not to be missed.
