This church is very light and well-maintained. It looks to be 100 years old rather than 1,000. Queen Matilda is buried here.

There appeared to be not very much to see at this Abbey. Queen Mathilde's grave is there but covered by either glass or perspex not sure which which reflect light from the main windows behind it so you cannot really see it properly. Lovely ceilings...More

This Abbey is a little bit of a walk from downtown but worth it if you have time. Its very minimalist inside, and I was the only one in there when I went.

The Abbaye now houses the town administration so we did not see inside. However the Église abbatiale de la Trinité was open and houses the tomb of William the Conquerer's Queen. The whole complex and park are beautiful.

Beautiful visit to the Abbaye aux Dames. The buildings are stunning and it is very tranquil even in the height of the season. Recommend a visit.

Beautiful place, but because it's a working building all you can really do is walk along the gallery. The free guided tour makes no concession to non-French and only includes a couple of rooms.

Very beautiful from what we could see on the outside - unfortunately on weekends only opens at 14:00h !! We had planned on a morning at Caen and had plans for continuing our journey through Normandy so we were unable to stay longer.

The inside is pure zen, clean lines and if you get there at the right time, tranquil. Go to the center of the building and hum loudly and you will hear a Gregorian chant echo that will send chills down your spine. I believe it...More
