My husband and I visited the Normandy Beaches in May, 2014. Our guide, Dale Booth (www.dboothnormandytours.com), made the landings on June 6 come alive for us. We stayed in Bayeux (a charming town untouched by the war). Dale picked us up from our hotel at...More

As a natural setting, the Normandy beaches are worth visiting even if you're not interest in history. The water and sand are as pristine as they can get in Europe, and the beaches go on for miles. We came here with a friend who actually...More

We visited all 5 D Day beaches. They all look beautiful and peaceful - horse drawn suki training when we were there, but so were many of the artifacts of war, left on the beaches as a permanent reminder of the horrors of the day.

After seeing the other sites, plus the cemetery at Omaha beach, this was just a nice point of interest and not a must. The others were so much more interesting.

I'm a history buff so I loved this portion of the trip. regardless of how many books you've read or shows you've watched, until you come here and actually see it, you won't understand how huge an area this is. At Omaha, I've been twice...More

If you get the chance, come here. My wife, daughter and I spent two very full days in this area. I am very familiar with WWII and loved it. My family is not as familiar, but they loved it too.

I used Paris city vision. Long day (6 am to 9 pm), but I could sleep during the 6 hour of drive time (like nearly everyone else).
