Visiting this important place is is the duty and right of every American. We are here today because of the sacrifices made by many on this site. Understanding the profound scope of what happened on June 6th at Omaha Beach is something we need to...More

We scheduled a tour from Paris and while the tour company isn't significant, it was worth the time (6am-7pm) to do this. It was probably one of the most humbling and moving experiences we have ever had. To stand on those beaches where our young...More

The beaches seem to go on forever. Hard to imagine the horror that they once all witnessed - they seem so beautiful and peaceful now (at least in the fall). Really liked the sculpture on Omaha Beach.

One of the best things we did on our trip to France. It was very humbling. History came alive. This is such a beautiful area, too.

The vast expanse of Omaha Beach is the same seen in photographs & films over the decades. Terrifying enough. But I have memory of the cliffs leading up to the fortifications & guns above Utah Beach, cliffs the American Rangers had to scale after the...More

We rented a car and did a self guided tour. There are many good guide books out there but we used Rick Steve's Normandy guide which started in Arromanches and headed west. It took us about 7 hours to follow all the recommended stops at...More

I used Paris city vision. Long day (6 am to 9 pm), but I could sleep during the 6 hour of drive time (like nearly everyone else).
