The Lille office of Tourism called this 'the best and largest market of north France.' Well, guess they where boasting a bit. The market was okay, but not amazing or something. Lot of locals. Virtually no tourists. Unknown to us, the marker building was closed....More

Worthless tat, crazy hordes of people, nothing special or unique. Literally packs of batteries, random sweets and deodorant. We left after walking through as fast as we could out the other side.

On Sunday - the indoor market is really nice. Nice food, good cheese, fresh squeezed juice..... The outside is more like a flee market.

We went there on Sunday morning. This place is really huge and you can find different stalls selling so many things. We went to the covered place and were happy to find local cheeses and persons who were able to explain all about the products...More

A reasonably interesting market inside but, horrifically seedy outside, a lot of second hand rubbish and a lot of people asking you for money) - not worth the walk from the old town, where there are plenty of other more interesting things to see.

Wazemmes market is fun. Good for food (meat - lots of chicken being roasted around the edge of the market, cheese, seafood and fresh fruit and vegetables etc.), cheap essentials and clothing. Lots of repetitive stalls selling exactly the same things, but this is normal....More

A lovely market for fresh produce. The indoor part has excellent cheese, meat, fish and fruit plus some great street food stalls. Outside is more like a flea market. We never felt threatened at all but like most towns and cities in France has its...More
