It is a good place for a rainy day: it has a few interesting works of art, but very badly presented .

Rainy Thursday in Lille so went to see what France's 2nd largest art museum was like. The outside was covered in a massive advert for a car company and also covered in scaffolding, inside the entry was 7 euros and you have to enter as if boarding at a airport. Inside it is vast but sadly empty. There were a... More

Visited on a Sunday morning, efficient at getting in and through security and through the entrance billeterie. It's a big building, supposedly the second largest are museum behind La Louvre but it' s honestly a bit short of works to exhibit. The impressionist gallery is nice but small, one picture by Monet is good, some nice season pictures by Sisley,... More

€4 to get in for a student is a good price. Real mixture of all sorts there from sculptures, fine art, statues, artefacts, modern art, and coolest of all (I think) dioramas or maps of local towns and cities. Easy to waste a few hours here, easy to get too aswell via metro.

Spent just over two hours viewing the various exhibits this afternoon. It won me when the first painting that a saw was from one of my favourite artists Pieter Bruegel. The audio guide was very good although it was not working for approx 50% of works that were denoted as having commentary. Really enjoyed the huge relief maps in the... More

We enjoyed the museum itself although unfortunately, there were a few restoration projects taking place on the top floor. Staff at the coffee shop were abrupt and more interested in their conversation than our order. Had bags checked on our way in by security (standard procedure I imagine) and purchased tickets before making our way around. About 20 minutes into... More

It would be very hard to sum up all that is to be seen in this magnificent gallery. We spent an afternoon rapt by the incredible selection of interestingly grouped works: a few Monets, a Picasso, a handful of Rubens, some jaw-dropping 15th century triptychs and stunning 17th century Dutch pieces. It would be impossible to forget the Brueghels -... More

If you have a couple of hours spare then this is well worth a visit. 4 euros to get in (closed Tuesday) so really good value. Some fabulous works of art from some very famous artists. There is a huge open space downstairs which is a great space for chilling or reflecting/

A huge collection of paintings of some of the best known painters like Monet and Van Gogh among other treasures. A friendly staff will be happy to give you additional fun and interesting fact on the works of art and... More

We had an enjoyable 4 hours looking at the various artworks. No English subtitles like the Louvre. We used free audio guide but only very select pieces have English commentary. Great value for 7 euros.
