I went to the candlelit procession(9pm) with my friend and we were totally moved by the pilgrims singing and praying. It's totally not necessary to be Catholic or even religious to be affected by their devotions. Ignore the shops selling religious icons/ holy water bottles / rosaries outside the gates for the serenity inside. Although there were hundreds (thousands?) in... More

Much to see and do. It is stunning the amount of visitors/pilgrims that flock to this location. Every night from April thru October, thousands, from all over the world, gather for the Marian candlelight procession. And attend the many masses and bath in the holy spring water. Be sure to check the bath schedule and plan your wait times. Women's... More

Lourdes is an incredibly beautiful site that was filled with the most amazing spiritual experiences. The baths, the basilica, and the grotto was an amazing treasure for a pilgraimage.

This such an amazing, accommodating, friendly and peaceful place. This is a tiny little town in the south of France. It is so small that you can move around without the need of transportation. Majority of the visitors are older adults. The sanctuary ensures that older adults have all their needs met. In addition, the vendors also tailor to the... More

It is a pretty large area of about 60 acres. It is a place of religious pilgrimage where you can see people of various nations coming to pray and to honor Mary the mother of Christ. It is separate from the town by walls and fences which help keep the sacred feeling, as just outside the mail entrance are all... More

We were stayaing nearly in Pau and drove to Lourdes to visit this holy site. For May it was relatively busy, but not overrun with people. I expect in the middle of Summer it would be so busy. The church is impressive as are the surrounding gardens.

Since 2010 I have returned every year,it is for me a place of prayer, spirituality and peace.Totally ignore the shops outside the compound, although sometimes you have the need to bring a momento with you as remainder when you are back home. There is no place like Lourdes,so much generosity and solidariety offered to so many it is humbling

Just what I needed, a place to pray, heal, get connected, be friendly, be thankful. One of the Holy places on earth without a doubt.

You must be in the mood to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Be prepared to deal with crowds. The importance of Lourdes as a religious site only dates to the mid-19th century. If it is your "cup of tea," by all means visit.

A place for spiritual renewal and reflection even for those of different faiths. Be moved when watching the afternoon procession and blessing of the sick immerse yourself by joining the evening candlelit procession.
