We climbed the steps inside the tower and were glad there was no one else climbing that day so we could take regular breaks! It was worth the view though! There is a small charge which goes towards the upkeep of the Cathedral.

We passed it every day and only twice was it open. Once was for a private communion. Nothing special inside to report on.

This is a 13th century construction that incurred damage during the 100 years war during the 14th century assault by England's Prince, Edward the Black. Reconstruction repairs took place. As in much of the medieval city, French attitudes during the Revolution did nothing to preserve...More

The instant we entered the door to enjoy the lovely stained glass window and rest awhile in the peace of contemplation, we were surrounded by the deafening sound of the organ. Was somebody practicing, or was it a recital? Whatever, once my ears attuned to...More

If you have seen a Cathedral, you have seen them all. But when you there it is part of a tour. So go and see it. It gives you also time to get in the shade on a sunny day

If you visit the cathedral, which is beautiful, don't miss going up the tower. The views are great and we spent an age looking off the top, far more time than I would normally put into views.

I stop at everyone I can, each is unique, and the Cathedral in Carcassone is no different. Fantastic inside and out. I was there at 10am and I was the only one. The plaza outside has a tribute to the children of the town who...More

The first thing that might strike you about the Cathedral is the lighting, modern and welcoming in appearance and seemingly at odds with the forbidding exterior, which in common with the other churches we saw gives the impression of austerity and defensive capability rather than...More

Only the gothic half was open. We got more out of it because we has an excellent guide but you can do your own homework. Still only an average spot that benefits from being in Carcassonne. There is no reason not to pop in while...More
