Carcassonne cite is an incredible medieval treat. Although the narrow streets are filled with tourist shops and restaurants, the whole city retains its charm and mystique. Plenty of places to eat; you can walk the walls of the city and the Basilique Saint Nazaire (main church) has breathtaking 12th century stained glass and stonework. A treat for history enthusiasts.

Such an imposing view when you arrive in Carcassone and definitely worth a visit. You can visit the remapants, a torture museum, have a drink or lunch in the queue, and stay if you like

This medieval town is very attractive from a distance but very touristy inside and I think there are better places in the Czech Republic. If you are nearby it is worth a visit though.

We had a really lovely visit to Carcassonne. A beautiful walled city. You travel back in time.. The children loved it. Would definitely return

We were staying in a b and b by the river and the walk up in the rain certainly warms you up.The whole place even in the rain was wonderful to see, there are many little streets, many restaurants and even some of the shops were open.We als did the inside paid tour which is something of a must do.

The Chateau at Carcassonne is a large fortress on a hill which encloses a small town within the outer walls comprising shops and restaurants, then you come to the main fortress with it's own inner walls. We visited in the winter so the lines were short, but they can be vary long in the summer. The chateau has no furnishings... More

What a fantastic place. We were only there for overnight so we didn't get to do and see everything but we had a fantastic evening dinner and did a little shopping before the shops closed and just walked the city.

OK, unless you're actually staying in the walled city, it is a bit of a hike but certainly worth every step. It is impossible to put the experience into words but it is simply amazing.

World class, huge fortified medieval city with massive walls, ramparts, turrets, and an ancient city within the walls. We walked around all the narrow cobbled streets and looked into lots of shops, and found a greet restaurant on a square for lunch. Has to be on the bucket list of world sites for any and everyone to visit. Excellent and... More

A very beautiful old town to visit. In the morning it is very busy with people shopping and visiting museums. At night it is even more beautiful as it is very quiet and people can go to eat at all sorts of restaurants. Magical.
