Randomly found this bar as we were heading back to the hotel. Great music, friendly staff. Everyone in there was lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend a stop off for a drink or two.

Watch out for scammers and pick pockets.

We were staying at a hotel a few steps away so stopped in here late. The place was packed with a young crowd. We are in our 60’s. We ordered a beer and pretty soon two guys in suits flanked us on both sides and one was talking in my ear and the other in my husband’s ear. They said they were from Somalia. The one on my husband’s side said to him, you are in pretty good shape and patted around his body obviously trying to figure out where he kept his money. They wanted to buy us a drink and we said no and left. They said oh we were just getting to be friends. I can’t believe they bartender didn’t notice what was going on. We thought they wanted to buy us a drink and we would have to reciprocate and they watch where my husband pulled the money out of or worse. CREEPY place.

Accidentally bumped into this bar just off the main streets!
We had a blast, it's cosy, not too big and the guys seriously knows how to party!!
Had lots of fireish shots and set fire to the bar multiple times!

Anglo-Friendly...Heck, Just Friendly!

Seems like there are Irish pubs in every city in the world, but at least this one has a pretty lively crowd and decent prices for Paris. Bartenders are quite fluent in English and actually seem to want to make sure you have a good time, no matter who you are.

Grungy, dark, forbidding--maybe your kind of place!

I was living in Paris this summer (July 2015), and some times in the evening I enjoyed going out and having a libation. I’m a middle-aged type but don’t insist on stodgy or decorous, and avoid tourist traps; I’m quite happy to drink my beer while watching the locals interact, and don’t mind at all being among a younger crowd since I’m a college prof and these are my people. I had read some stories about a pub on the edge of Montparnasse where the bouncers made a habit of assaulting the clients, at times even resorting to the use of teargas. Just had to see this. I was staying not far away, so one early evening on my own, I went to have a look.

I was greeted by the grunts of a rather surly, mopish, dreadlocks barman, who promptly disappeared; when he came back, he poured me a beer, and then vanished once again. It was early, so there were only three other customers in the joint.

A pretty black-haired girl not a day older than 17 was seated at the window, across from a scruffy, bearded lad with a duffle-bag and what looked like bus tickets, surely breaking daddy's heart. A local lad was throttling the “WrestleMania” pinball machine, above his head a lamp made from an old lavabo with a red bulb inside.

The bar was dingy, dark, abused, condemned. Not a single black interior surface remained intact. It had the appearance of having been graffitied upon with various sharp objects since Napeolonic times.

11 x 17 color posters covered the ceiling, all warped and discolored and shot through with staples, advertising long-past bar events. The beers on deck were fairly typical for this kind of place: Kilkenny, Guinness I wouldn’t even think about ordering, Carlsberg, Carlsberg Black, Grimsbergen, 1664, and Kronenbourg. A faux-chalkboard sign announced their local offering, "The Famous Shannon Beer," and which is better than the last several mentioned but not by much. But it was quite cheap during happy hour, 4.50 Euros a pint, so I won’t complain.

After a while a couple of large, close-cropped lads came in and embraced the barman, and sat down for a pint. I assumed these were the famous bouncers, and did not go out of my way to provoke them. I used the grungy WC and walked out at about 9:30 PM. I witnessed no assaults, and no teargas, but The Shannon Pub would be just the place for it, and the night was yet young. It’s very similar to the crummy undergraduate bars found on U.S. college campuses. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll probably love it. I found it a fascinating diversion, but won’t be back.

Unexpected dive bar
Jul 2015 • Friends
Shannon Pub is an interesting place, more like a dive bar, than an actual pub. It is a nice touch that it isn't pretending to be situated on the British Isles, but rather has a bit of a post-apocalyptic/Mos Eisley Cantina-feel to it. We visited on a rather slow friday night, but we were early, so the slow might go away later in the evening. Music is a variety of classic rock and newer pop classics, with a bit of heavier music blended in. Beer is a bit on the expensive side (~€6-7/ 0.5 L), but not too bad. The bartenders are very nice, and seems to be there to serve beer and have a good time.

Nice setting and music
Jan 2015 • Friends
Shannon has a really nice setting and pretty good music. Drinks are slightly expensive seeing the standards of the pub and the staff is not extremely nice. Still it's a good place to have some drinks with friends and good music.
