Interesting, plain fun, but don't expect too much

Just a plain fun visit behind the scenes of Le Grand Rex. You'll get fun and animated a surface scratch on the history of Le Grand Rex, cinema in general, and how movies are made... read more

I went to watch "Le lac des cygnes" ice skating performance. The theatre is beautifully decorated, and the stage is quite big. The seats are very comfortable and the visuals over the stage are good from most angles. Although i was seated down near the stage, i would advise to try to take the higher seats or the second stage... More

Just a plain fun visit behind the scenes of Le Grand Rex. You'll get fun and animated a surface scratch on the history of Le Grand Rex, cinema in general, and how movies are made. A shame the tour doesn't include a visit to the beautiful main movie theatre.

We saw a stellar performance by Sufjan Stevens at Le Grand Rex. The atmosphere is fantastic, the seats leave something to be desired, but we were there for a show not exceptional comfort. Beverages were accessible, we could see the stage from upper level seats, acoustics were fine and the star-studded, moving cloud ceiling was a welcome atmospheric touch that... More

We went there recently on a saturday night to see a movie, we had our tickets on the phone so we didn´t had to wait in line at all, the cinema decor is impressive, it looks like a sort of museum, the ceilling mimics the sky, with stars and clouds and you have statues all over. We were actually a... More

I am a huge lover of cinema and art, so watching a movie is almost always on my to-do list. As soon as I found out that there is a huge cinema in Paris, I booked myself a ticket to the latest James Bond movie premiere for €11. Unlike some other people in the comments I was lucky to avoid... More

Takes about 40 min. You will be self guided through lights and audio voices through the backstage of Grand Rex. Very good to do with kids from 10 yrs old. Unfortunately the shop in the end of the tour was closed so we could not buy pictures of our 'performances'. There was not many people so it was like doing... More

My friends and I went to see Ratatouille and all I have to say it was an experience. The entire of the REX is no state of the arts place. The seats are indeed in need of repair but the seating views are great. We sat in the balcony and had a wonderful viewing of the show. It is something... More

I paid £90 each for two stalls seats row D to see the Tim Burton music concert. One of the seats was a fold up seat at the row end which was not shown on the plan and not warned about. The price was the same as for a proper seat. Although row D sounds good, it is actually so... More

The theatre is huge and seats are all leather. Has around 2700 seats and with the word rex written across up in the balconies. They also have a tour of how things worked in the movies and you get a chance to see yourself on the green screen.

We had visited Paris to see Mariza, who headlined a celebration of Fade...(Portuguese Folk music) . Mariza was magnificent as were her musicians, passion, straight from the heart; wonderful...there were however two things which got in the way of making the whole night totally excellent. The Rex operates a rule of have you seated by an usherette who explained to... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
