I stayed in a wonderful hotel in paris's 17 th arrondissement for two weeks and I can't praise the hotel staff enough. They were so warm and accommodating I felt like I was with family. The hotel was clean and the area safe. The best...More

St. Sulpice boasts sanctuary space that's larger than Notre Dame! There's a Delacroix to look at, the pulpit is elevated and fabulous, and visitors are welcome to sit and rest and reflect. Don't miss the obelisk known as the "gnomon", and the copper bar on...More

This is not my favorite church in Paris because it's so dark and the architecture is on unharmonious. But the big Delacroix inside is worth a look. The neighborhood is super-spiffy.

If you are in the neighborhood, this church should not be missed. It is old and in need of vast renovation, but it is beautiful under all that dirt and grime.

This church is one of the examples of "Jesuit style" in France ; one is allowed to hate it, but in any case, with the italiante fountain in the middle, the "place Saint-Sulpice" is wonderful. The interior is well worth visiting, with paintings by Delacroix,...More

This is a very interesting church with baroque interiors. Although not as grand as some of its nearby neighbors, it is a magnificent edifice with notable murals from Delacroix, as well as the well-known sundial (obelisk and brass meridian line on the floor) that gets...More

In the Chapel of the Holy Angels are three Delacroix paintings which are on view again having spent a year being restored. They are magnificent, and seeing them here can be combined with a visit to the Delacroix museum which is fairly nearby.

The church is wonderful. Full of works of art and impeccable architecture. What makes it odd is the cheap, gaudy decoration that was in place for Christmas. They even covered up murals with chintzy Nativity scene!

In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic
and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is
dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops,
ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants.
Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine
art school and small museums hide in unassuming
squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the
oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
We'll only be in Paris for a few days, but want to hear the Grand Orgue. Is it used for Saturday evening masses or only on Sunday? I'm a long-time member of the American Guild of Organists, and have written D. Roth (whom we heard 4 weeks ago in Baltimore, MD, U.S.A.) but he is very busy, I am sure. Any answers would be MUCH appreciated! Merci!
