There are so many things to see in Paris, it's easy to overlook past pleasures. I ran across this photo from our visit last fall, and it brought back fond memories. A beautiful house, a lovely collection of art and artifacts from the 18th century.

This lovely house was built by Moise de Camondo just before WWI to house his collection of 18th century art, tapestries, furniture etc. On his death it was bequeathed to the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in memory of his only son. The house has been left pretty much as it was and you get a glimpse of how life was... More

Located in Monceau street, it was the domicile of count Camondo, who makes a gift of his hotel and of all his collections, to Art Decoration , in memory of his son Nissim, who was killed in the war; it is an elegant residence of the period of Louis XVI; very nice fournitures and services, silversmith's art, etc.; It's a... True gem in an elegant part of the city. The highlight of my trip. For history and 18th century antiques lovers. You don't feel like in a museum. The only thing I didnt like was the documentary about the turbulent family history that was for French audience only, without subtitles.

There's 2 floors to see. Lots of decoration and detail to admire. It's easy to imagine yourself living amidst all the beauty. Sadly, you can't stay forever.

I'm so pleased I managed to visit this wonderful museum. It's not large by any means, but full of beautiful and interesting works of art, and their free audio guide is packed with interesting information. Seeing the upstairs and downstairs reminded me a little of Downton Abbey ! :)

There were few other visitors the morning I went which made for a very relaxed visit. The audio guide in English is excellent giving just the right amount on information. Lots of interesting objects and furniture and a poignant family history to discover. Lovely views over the Parc Monceau from the main rooms.

Beautiful home full of art treasures located on the Parc Monceau, it is a truly hidden gem. We were there during New Years and every museum had long, long lines. No line here because it is not well known. Pretty neighborhood full of cafes surrounding it.

This is my favorite place in Paris. It was a private home that has been turned into a museum of the owners life. Exceptional interiors that look like it was when the family was living there. A wonderful place to drift back into time.
