Nice viewpoint over the city but watch out as the area around is full of scammers and pick pockets..

Visited in august 2016 and loved it! Beautiful, peaceful church over looking Paris, in a wonderful setting. Warnings were out to be aware of pick pockets, but that is also true of everywhere around Paris.

Even if you do not care about architecture, history or churches, then this is still the must to see attraction in Paris as views from top are amazing and best in Paris. And the feeling in neighboring places resemble that Paris was once 20 years ago...

We walked from our hotel 12 minutes to this location. As we toured the back roads following google maps we were unsure how close we actually was until we looked up and see the basilica lit up amongst the trees. We visited at night and decided to climb the stairs instead of taking the cable car up. This added to... More

This is a definitely must visit place in Paris, the view from the church to the city is remarkable and the church itself is very beautiful and full of light. Also the neighborhood has many artists, and lovely architecture. It is perfect to visit in a sunny day, where you can sit on the grasslands next to the church and... More

When things are on the Top 10 of tourist spots in a city you may be tempted to go "too many other tourisits" but this church is worth the visit. It's equally spectacular inside and outside and the view from the top of the hill is good as well.

Nice place to visit on a sunny day, to see all of Paris spread out before you. Best in the afternoon, so the glare is reduced. Funicular to the top is great fun for all involved and means you can avoid the park and all the aggressive touts who want to sell you something. They can really spoil the experience... More

Women were stopping some of the female patrons if they had short shorts, spaghetti straps, midriffs showing, etc. It IS a house of worship. It's beautiful inside and out. Enjoy the free entertainment in front of the steps and give a tip if you liked it.

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
