The classes I took were absolutely SUPERB! I spent approximately a week at the Ritz learning the different techniques and incredible recipes shared by the talented chefs. I have taken classes at other institutions before, but NOTHING is like the Ritz-Escoffier. The details, the ambiance, the level of professionalism is absolutely incredible. I hope to return soon and continue to learn. I am beyond thankful for all the wonderful chefs that have taught me their passion. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I HIGHLY recommend you take classes, it will be an experience out of this world!

I joined the Ritz class for making Haute Entremet in 2018, I loved it and when I am visiting Paris in July this year, I decided I have to revisit, even though it's a quite pricy class, $260 Euros for 4 hours to make a fancy tart.

As a non French speaker, sadly, this time the experience was not pleasant at all and I probably wont go back next time; in the past, I even wanted to take the 2-3 weeks training with them.. not sure anymore.

If you do speak French, read other reviews instead of mine.

1. The class is taught in French with English translation; they have indicated that on their website. In 2018, the translation was very well paced, the chef and the translator will cater to the need to the non French speaking ones. That's why I thought even though it's taught in French, they know how to manage it well.
This time, not at all. The chef (even though she does speak very good English), just start speaking in French non stop, and the translator is just doing her own thing, and sometimes forget to translate, sometimes just summarize 1 minute of stuff into 2 -3 sentences. And the chef & the translator speak over each other, when the chef is doing demo, and talking in French, the translator is just trying to tell me what happened before the demo step; and you will end up missing the demo as you are busy trying to understand what's being said earlier through the translator. Or the classmates just started everything, and for the non French speakers, you just don't know what to do.

2. Not everyone can be a teacher. The chef isn't very welcoming for questions. She seems annoyed that you ask questions or follow up with what she shared, and just gives you a bit of attitude of "why would you ask that?!". In the class, she just demo and doesn't really give advices/guidance when the students are making it, let alone correcting them. after the demo, you are going to make it (yes it's hands on) and the chef wouldn't come over to take a look or say is it done or not. Esp when you don't speak French, you already lose 50% of the content and at the end you basically need to look around and figure out by yourself.

3. The learning content is a bit underwhelming. In 2018, I recall the learning content is a bit more rich, and the chef is more thorough in the explanation. This time, the class is very rushed, the explanation is more on the surface level, and many things are skimmed.

If you have 260 Euro to spend, and just want to have a fun time baking, look elsewhere, you can enroll 2 classes for this cost.
If you want the fancy product looks & tasty recipe, the apron from them, but a just ok learning experience with some attitude from the chef, this is a place to consider.

While taking a pastry class at the Ritz Escoffier has been on my list since 2019, I have to admit that I was a little nervous when I finally signed up for it. As it turns out, I had no reason to be nervous - this was an absolutely lovely experience.

My class was taught by Antoine, a Ritz pastry chef with extensive experience. Though I was the only person in the class that didn't speak French, I was able to follow along with help from the lovely Christina and my very kind classmates. I never felt overwhelmed or like I couldn't keep up with the class.

The full day course included a pear and almond torte, filled choux pastry with caramel and Chantilly cream, and a Black Forest cake. If you haven't tried the Ritz pastries, they are works of art. I thought this class would be very intense, and yes, the recipes are both creative and complicated, but the skills required aren't overly technical. I think they actually do an incredible job of making pastry-making approachable and “easy.” I was surprised at how well everything turned out, even when I thought we might have burned our caramel. (We didn't; it was delicious!)

I appreciated that they gave us tips for prepping the recipes in advance. It's a lot to make all of these recipes in one day, but they were very clear that you don't have to do it this way. I learned so many great tips and tricks from Antoine that I’m excited to use in my kitchen at home. There are so many easy tools that can really elevate your baking and pastry-making.

At the end of the class, you are able to box up and take all your creations home so everyone else can enjoy them, too. We were provided all the recipes and our aprons so that we could recreate everything at home. (They also provide a list of kitchen equipment stores in Paris that would be worth checking out if you need anything!)

I can't wait to take another class and I'm considering signing up for one of the 3 or 5 day intensives next!

I participated to the Cocktail Masterclass done by Colin Peter Field and we had a great time. I had never been to the Hemingway bar and loved its charm as well as the anecdotes shared by Colin. We tested a couple cocktails made directly by Colin that were delicious.

Excellent experience, learned to dream some little culinary secrets with the help of a young by age but not by the knowledge of the chef Paula and Lena who translated for me .

Great class on choux pastry. Arnaud Jardin, Instructor, was organized, open to questions, and very knowledgeable about ingredients and pastry. His feedback was prompt and pertinent. The techniques taught were well-explained and something that would be easy enough to reproduce at home. That he was assisted by Remi made the class go smoothly. I would take another class here and with M. Jardin. The kitchen was super clean and well-equipped. I came home with 3 of each - chouquettes, Paris-Brest, and choux with filling. The class is totally worth it.

Had an amazing time learning all about technique when it comes to making truffles and chocolates. The chef was very inspiring and even my teen sons were very engaged.
All in all a great experience that I would totally recommend. Loved also the fact that they gave us a beautiful RITZ apron to keep!

There are several classes held at the Ritz. You go to the downstairs kitchen and work with the chef who teaches you how to make a particular menu and then you sit and enjoy your delicious meal. Classes are 3 hours and worth the money. We were the only 3 English speaking people of 9 in the class but we had the co-chef who interpreted what the chef was saying, although most of the stuff he teaches is pretty hands on. You can learn to debone a chicken and make a lovely meal, or make macaroons or one of the set menus. We make classic burgers with supreme French toppings along with duck and foie gras burgers. The class was fun, inspiring and a great way to spend a select evening at the Ritz.
