A mecca for cooks!

At a cooking class in Paris, I asked the chef about E. Dehillerin. He replied "Oh, you want to go to the museum". E. Dehillerin has been in business since 1820 and has retained... read more

At a cooking class in Paris, I asked the chef about E. Dehillerin. He replied "Oh, you want to go to the museum". E. Dehillerin has been in business since 1820 and has retained all of its old world character. The floors are worn and creaky, shelves reach to the ceiling, and you can imagine that little has changed in... More

I knew before I went to France that I needed a proper crepe pan, which is harder to find in the United States than you might think. Once I went to E. Dehillerin, I realized there were so many other things my kitchen needed! And all for reasonable prices. For instance, I now have a beautiful pair of herb scissors... More

Went there to get the copper sauce pan and the staff was really helpful. I would definitely go back next time I visit Paris.

They have everything - EVERYTHING - for baking or cooking and probably in at least 5 different sizes! I can see why this was Julia Child's favorite story.

So many small to very large items to choose from. I got a carbon steel knife to try as I've never had one. It was stamped w "E. Dehillerin" on it, which is what I wanted. We got a few other things. Largely this place is just a cool place to go. The staff were helpful and certainly spoke enough... More

I love to cook. After taking a Macaron class, I came here for a few specialized pieces of equipment and spent 700 Euros on other kitchen equipment: items that would have cost double that...if you could find it...in the States. Run by surly Frenchmen.

I went there for a traditional Tarta Tatin mold. There you can find everything for French Cooking and Bakery. Julia Child made famous this famous ancient store for chefs and cooking lovers. This is a must for all lovers of cooking looking for very specific products fro french cooking or baking. Is not beautiful inside, looks more like a warehouse,... More

Saw this place on Luke Nguyen France cooking show. The pots don't fail to disappoint. A little pricey but cheaper than ones you can get at MYER melbourne. Great range. Shop very antique but service quite modern.

Gourmands and foodies rejoice. This is an amazing little store that transports you back in time. If you are looking for amazing kitchen ware, or a really unique place, stop in. It's known as Julia Child's favorite store. The staff are helpful, and write up receipts on paper. Old world elegance, and if you want copper pans, or an authentic... More

This is an old-fashioned warehouse style cookware store with an interesting array of items. It's fun to think of everyone who has shopped here before, including Julia Child. Impossible to leave without buying something for your home kitchen.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
