World famous, but maybe too big?
Aug 2021
As we had found elsewhere (and more increasingly), if you really want to visit someplace famous, book ahead. We visited Paris in the middle of the Delta variant spike, and proof of vaccination was required for entry to most places, the Louvre being one. We arrived about 45 minutes ahead of our ticket time there are two lines, one for reserved tickets, and one for no tickets. Because of the pandemic, the no tickets line wasn’t that bad. Any other time and it would have been long. Once in the museum you’ll need to decide what you want to see, unless you plan on spending all day there. After 2+ hours, I was "arted" out. We did see the famous pieces in the overall collection, plus a lot of other stuff, but that was plenty. The Louvre is probably one of the biggest museums in the world. Recommended

Magnificent

A magnificent museum. We booked a guided tour as there is simply too much to see and it would be overwhelming without someone who knows where they're going and what they're talking about. You could visit here every day for a week and still not really skim the surface. Loved it.

the museum does not need to be advertised or its collection, because it is known all over the world. Organizationally, we recommend that you buy a ticket online in advance - the queue is quite long anyway, and if you don't have a ticket, you can wait even a few hours. We had a problem with finding ourselves in the museum, we had a map, and yet it was difficult for us to find specific exhibitions, which made us go around sometimes. we have wasted our time on this. we recommend spending the whole day here, because seeing everything in 2-3 hours is impossible. beautiful interiors, it is very nice to spend time here.

No need to write to tell you how wonderful is this museum. I will provide an update on Covid measures. Those without a vaccination passport can take a test at a pharmacy about ten minutes away, near "Pyramides" underground parking--also a great place to park if you are driving. We received our results in about 15 minutes. We arrived past our scheduled time and were sent to a different location but were still allowed inside. Better to be on time. As is recommended often, try to plan your visit in advance and know what you want to see. It is easy to become distracted even if you have a well-planned plan. Bring some extra money, there are so many interesting souvenirs in the shops.

A totally must visit!

The Louvre museum is one of the best of the world.
It is huge, so a couple of suggestions:

Book a guide to see all the highlights ( we did a semi private guided tour and it was totally worth it, as we saw all the great stuff without wandering around or get lost) or pre purchase your tickets online so as to avoid the big lines.

Take water with you and go to the bathroom in the entrance (we didn't found another bathroom inside the museum).

Be sure to take a map from the Museum, so as to know exactly where to go.

And lastly, take a lot of photos! This museum is amazing!!

We got the skip the line museum in English trough Viator and the price was worth it. Florence the guide was excellent since we meet at the entrance. She knew everything and took the time to explain even little details. We loved it.

Not horrible, not great. Everyone should see it for the experience.

It was not too crowded, but the place is massive and you walk a long way with few highlights. Mona Lisa is the size of a postage stamp and behind glass. But it should be seen at least once, then you can go to the more interesting museums.

Must Go, But Here's What You Need to Know
Sep 2021
Like all attractions during Covid-19, there is much more hassle to go anywhere, and The Louvre is no exception. Once you prepare for that, this is one of the greatest museums of the world. If you are in Paris, this should be one of the reasons you are here right?
Purchase your pre-timed tickets in advance online. Have your health passport ready (or if you have vaccination papers, negative test results documents, have them ready). These will be checked by staff in the courtyard before you show your tickets to the next set of staff. Then you descent down the escalators towards the entrance. Other entrances are not open anymore.
Getting an audio guide and interactive map is highly recommended. This is a huge museum, if you are looking for specific works, this will be VERY helpful.
In addition to the iconic works of art at this museum, don't forget to pause and admire the architecture itself as well.
