Walk along the streets, enjoy a day. Locals hang out here too. Combine it with Pompodiu, at the end of the street take a rest at Place des Vosges, the small park surrounded with nice historical looking buildings.

After Saint Germain des Pres, this is my 2nd favourite shopping district in Paris. I came across some nice boutiques and yes, I did do some shopping. Anyway I love the fact that this part of town was not consumed by so many tourists - in fact it was quite. I will be back to do some shopping again. If... More

This is one of the best single streets for casual shopping in Paris. Dotted with many designer boutiques, you also find local clothing and jewelry designers in addition to several famous and not so famous perfumers. There's really something for everyone in just a few blocks. Be sure to check out the few art galleries, a musee or two and... More

Part of what makes the Rue des Francs Bourgeois as nice as it is, is its location. On its east end, it borders on the Place des Vosges and the Musee Carnavalet, two of the most popular attractions in the Marais District. As you walk east, it becomes all about the shopping. And when you get to its western terminus,... More

All I ask for are a few more hours on this street so that I can give the boutiques that line this pleasure promenade the attention they deserve. The clothes are beautiful and tempting, but the real attractions are the houseware and other miscellaneous stuff. I must return!

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
