Best known as the regular site of a book fair. Former site of a slaughterhouse, thus the statues of beasts at the entrance. A newer park on the edge of Paris.

Parc Georges Brassens is a huge park situated very close to Porte de Versailles, at the edge of Paris. The park used to be a large abattoir, hence the two large bull statues at the main entrance of the park. The park has a lot...More

Having been away from reading French books for far too long, it was humbling to see all the different genres of French literature, and I found a great Gaston comics book for a few euros

My first visit to this park in late March left me unimpressed but by the time I visited again in late April it was looking much better and I also realized that it's home to a large used/antique book sale on the weekends and a...More

Note the cows/bulls on top of the columns when you enter the park. Best feature is the book fair held here regularly. Green lungs for a densely-populated neighborhood.

Two minutes from La Ruche. The singer George's Brassens lived near here. The Rue Brancion side has a book fair every weekend under wrought iron structures from Eiffel Tower era. Once the site of an abattoir. Several cafés, and a wonderful Poilane bakery. Roam around....More

This is a great park to cut through, walk around, lounge in, people watch... well it's a park! And it isn't over run by the masses seen everywhere else in Paris. Lots of great eateries all around and easily accessible by train and bus.
