If you have an hour to spend then you can easily explore the Musee des Beaux-Arts. A varied collection with changing special exhibitions in a small gallery with. a pleasant garden. Entrance price of €5 for the two of us it was easy to fine a few examples on show that were worth the time and money.

Worth visiting and if possible getting a tour from one of the museum staff. Its a small museum but they have some great works of art.

Located in the former bishop's palace in Tours, Musée des Beaux-Arts offers a fine exhibition, small enough to be viewed in an hour or two depending on one's interests for the very low price of 3 euros 50. The small collection has a fine examples of European art from medieval until the end of the 19th century. While the 17th-century... More

The entry to the gallery is thru a grand gateway opening onto a magnificent verdant and opulent garden. There is monstrous tree dominating the courtyard which must be very old. The gallery itself is a grand old building probably dating to the 18th century. The art works were interesting given Tours is a relatively medium sized city. We found our... More

This may not be the most extensive of collections, and on the day we visited the second floor was closed in preparation for a new exhibition, but there are one or two paintings that are well worth seeing and many of the rest deserve a second glance. And, if the paintings do not satisfy, the distinguished building and well kept... More

Adjacent to Cathedrale St-Gatien is the Musee des Beaux-Arts, a wonderful building set in beautiful gardens. Well worth visiting.

This museum contains mostly sixteenth and seventeenth century French painting. To me the artists were obscure. I did not think the art was first rate. However, as seniors we only paid 9 euros for both of us.

The museum was small, but had a variety of artists including Monet. Some of the paintings were not identified. No tag, title or artist. I thought maybe I was supposed to have recognized them, but I did not. It's in a lovely building with a fascinating Cedar of Lebanon in front. There is also a stuffed elephant off in a... More

If you find a special exhibit of interest, the art museum would be worth a trip. A visit to the museum is the only way to tour the Archbishop's Palace (but there are negligible furnishings).

Small museum with a permanent collection of minor works by lesser known French artists. Nothing stands out in my memory of a work that wowed me. It was a place to spend an hour out of the heat on a summer's day. I did enjoy a quick stroll through the gardens outside . There are so many wonderful chateaux nearby... More
